Before there was an eLynah or CHDF, before there was USCHO or CHN, back in the 1990s when the only way I knew to get out of town scores was two days later in the newspaper, I got introduced to the national college hockey scene via the HOCKEY-L listserv, and the person who made it all possible was Wayne Smith.  (I forgot/didn't know that Mike Machnik had actually started it in the 1980s, but Wayne had started hosting it at Maine by the time I joined.)

it was a pretty active list for years they still have an annual hockey-l dinner at the final four with board members.

Quote from: upprdeckit was a pretty active list for years they still have an annual hockey-l dinner at the final four with board members.

There was a little talk this summer about shuttering the list and finding a place to store the digital archives. The only traffic remaining (until Wayne's passing)  was Sara posting SLU box scores and someone's panicky call to find a place for the dinner about 5 days before each FF.

Still subscribed (on digest) for some reason, probably a combination of nostalgia and laziness.

Also someone still runs several playoff prediction contests.

Sorry, was confusing Bill's ECAC permutations with Mark Lewin (from another Red school)'s playoff contests.
