Got this e-mail this afternoon regarding TV in Chicago. I'm heading for Providence myself, but figured others in the Chicago area who are not on whatever e-mail list they used (perhaps the CAAAN list) would want to know:
Dear Fellow Cornellians,
I am sure some of you may be aware that Cornell's men's hockey team has qualified for the NCAA hockey tournament this year. Right now, the Big Red is ranked #1 in the country and as such is the #1 seed in its regional bracket. The tournament starts this Saturday, March 29th at 11 a.m. CST when our Big Red plays Minnesota State in Providence, Rhode Island.
Because the game is only available locally on DirecTV, I have contacted a sports bar in Chicago that has agreed to show the game on at least one of its televisions, and possibly allow us to use its upstairs room that has a big screen tv if enough people attend. The bar is:
Sports Corner Grille
956 W. Addison Street
Chicago
773-929-1441
Sports Corner opens at 11 a.m. - the time the game is supposed to start - so if anyone would like to watch the game in the company of other Cornellians, then meet there and let's take over the bar! It is conveniently located across the street from Wrigley Field and is right next to the Addison Street El station. They do serve food, so you will be able to order lunch there if you want.
If the Big Red wins Saturday, they will play again on Sunday against the winner of the Boston College-Ohio State game at 11 a.m. Sports Corner will show the game Sunday as well if anyone is interested.
This is not a formally organized event and we have not reserved a room or set up a tab at Sports Corner, so there is no attendance fee. This is merely an opportunity for alums to meet together and root for the Big Red.
Hope to see as many of you there as possible.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at emc5@cornell.edu.
