Are we happy that one of our own, Jimmy Vesey, from the Ivy League, won the Hobey Baker award? Or annoyed that it had to come from Harvard? Harvard's Jimmy Vesey named 2016 Hobey Baker Award winner (http://www.uscho.com/frozen-four/2016/04/08/harvards-jimmy-vesey-named-2016-hobey-baker-award-winner/)
Leneveu got jobbed in 2003.
I'm happy whenever an ECAC player is recognized for a nation honor. Which doesn't make it any less annoying that the only ECAC players to win the Hobey have been Harvard (http://www.tbrw.info/?/ncaa_History/hobey_Baker.html):
83 Mark Fusco
86 Scott Fusco
89 Lane MacDonald
16 Jimmy Vesey

I'm annoyed that this was awarded as a career award in this case. Or a "thanks for staying 4 years, pal" award. Or a "Gee, normally you would have won it last year, but you were up against a generational talent" award. Or a "We can't keep giving this to Freshmen" award. Take your pick.
Any way you look at it, Vesey had a worse year than he did last year, both for individual and team performance. Nevermind that Connor was head-and-shoulders a better player this year, I don't even think Vesey was the best player in his own league this year.
But he was anointed as a "Hobey Favorite" in the pre-season and the media gobbles up a Harvard lad doing well. Eh, the numbers weren't as good, but he didn't get hurt or anything disastrous, so just give it to the golden boy Senior, even though he wasn't the best.
Not happy at all. The gap between Cornell and the elite just keeps getting bigger.

Harvard can hardly be called "elite" this season.

Totally agree, but then I am biased.

That makes his point stronger tbh.

NCAA and Hobey. I'll take it over what Mike's putting on the ice.

I'm not trying to validate or invalidate his point, I just want the facts straight.
He didn't deserve it, he goes to Harvard, and it gives Harvard yet another recruiting advantage over Cornell. Nothing to like here.
