Toronto and five other Canadian NHL franchises won't make the playoffs. Only Montreal is in. Happened in 1973, too.

The 2nd of which was his 100th NHL point.

Another goal for Colin Greening tonight on a breakaway against Philly. Riley Nash also scored (his 9th of the season) tonight.

Philly...the team that the Yale goaltender Alex Lyon just signed with, thus giving up his remaining year of eligibility...

Which is hilarious because he's probably option 4 there at this point, given that Mase and Neuvirth have the NHL spots on lockdown.

Maybe.

Salary cap issues make two starter-quality goalies a luxury.  If Hexy could trade Mason for a scorer, provided he had a solid goalie in Allentown, then I think he'd do it.  And Neuvy has been injury prone recently.  We'll what kind of condition he's in next year.

Mase and Neuvy are both already under contract next year. And he's not going to leap Stolarz. And I seriously doubt you trade Mase. You trade Neuvy if you trade anyone because Mase has the better long term record. AHL starter is obviously Stolarz, and then I'm a big fan of Sandstrom. The goalie pipeline in Philly is almost as good as the D pipeline. My point is I don't really get him signing in Philly if he's going to skip a year. That said, glad he did.

Matt Moulson scored tonight against the Isles.  It was his 8th goal of the season.  No word on how many donuts.

Sabres said today that they're not going to buyout Moulson.

Via ECAC site, article in Toronto Sun on Greening. (http://www.torontosun.com/2016/04/08/colin-greening-a-better-fit-with-maple-leafs)

Quote from Babcock:

Quote"He is just a simple player," Babcock said. "We don't have a lot of big bodies and a lot of heavy guys. He has come in and been given an opportunity on the power play and a regular shift.

"He is also a guy who is trying to find his way back into the league. He is a proud guy who wants to play."

And from Greening:

Quote"It's because (Babcock's system) is based on skating," Greening said of becoming a contributor for the Leafs. "We blow the zone, we get long and that includes a lot of skating. I would say that's my best asset."
