Rumor has it that Roll prefers the style of play and size of players that has served Cornell so well in the Schafer era.  This coming from the D3 Middlebury fans who were complaining long and loud about being seriously out-muscled in their recent NCAA game against Roll's Oswego team.

Here's more info on George Roll.

http://www.clarkson.edu/athletics/hockey/coach.html#assist

He was one of Morris's first assistants and they played a very disciplined physical style, with some big players, although they had excellent scoring punch as well.  Not sure how much importance I'd attach to the comments mentioned by the Middlebury folks.

George's first challenge will be to instill/demand some discipline from his squad.

Hmmm....how long will it take Chief Bear to start slamming Coach Roll?  ::rolleyes::

Less time than it took you to gratuitously attack the Chief.  ::rolleyes::

Gratuitously?  ::rolleyes::

Perhaps you missed his "gratuitous" rip on Coach Morris recently...a full few months after the whole incident took place...but maybe you think that's okay because bear was hibernating?

His act is well known, both here and on the old Clarkson Rountable.  My poke at him hardly qualifies as an "attack".

At any rate, have fun ripping on Roll...he's a well respected nad classy guy.

Sorry about the double post...it's this site that was slow. :-D

Gee, I started this thread because I was happy that Clarkson got what seems to be such a nice and good coach. I guess it doesn't take long for paranoia to set in, but can't we all be happy for a while. Let's save our back stabbing for when something really happens.

Like at the end of a losing game, this is not the time to pick a fight.:-(

Hopefully, Roll will do a good job and straighten out Clarkson. As much as I collegially despise the Golden Knights :-P it'll be good for the league if/when they turn it around again.  I'd love to see them battling for 2nd or 3rd place and an at-large bid year in, year out.

Good luck to Roll and the folks at Clarkson.
