Title: It Sure Ain't Red Hot Hockey
Post by: Beeeej on December 15, 2015, 04:29:46 PM
Madison Square Garden, January 9: Harvard vs. Quinnipiac, followed by the gargantuan draw of an exhibition between NCAA Div. I bottom-feeder Army and Navy's club team.

If it didn't cost a decent amount of money, I'd be vaguely tempted to go and taunt the Harvard players just out of a sense of duty.

If you just want a good deal on a room in New York, Harvard is pushing a block at the Times Square Marriott marquis for 179/night.

That must be a club team from Army also since their varsity is playing Sacred Heart (http://www.uscho.com/scoreboard/army/mens-hockey/2015-2016/) that day.

Manhattan hotel rooms don't cost that much in the dead of winter. Try the HotelTonight app: I can easily find rooms in or near Times Square for under $100/night in the winter.

"Rooms in or near Times Square" ain't the Marriott Marquis. Obviously, you can stay wherever you like, but the rooms they're selling for $179 the weekend of Jan. 9 to Harvard fans (or whoever happens to have the link) normally go for at least $256 that weekend. Marriott's Revenue Management is pretty sophisticated, I'm sure they know what they can get for those rooms.

That should be Saturday 1/30/16.
It was part of a Basketball/Hockey doubleheader with the bball game at noon.  The schools sold tickets including both games.  Penn State charged $80 for a student ticket which included both games, transportation to and from campus and a t-shirt.
