Title: Jersey Auction
Post by: Jim Hyla on December 01, 2015, 05:04:41 PM
It's started. Which one do you want? (http://cornellbigred.com/news/2015/12/1/MICE_1201150223.aspx)

So I just noticed that the auction site lists Steve Inglehart as having worn number 23. Checking the Cornell page that lists players by number and TBRW, both show that as well, but I'm wondering if perhaps Greg just used the information compiled by Cornell, and if Cornell's information could possibly be wrong. Because I would have sworn Inglehart wore number 2.

As I recall, Inglehart and Schafer were often a defensive pairing, and I remember them wearing numbers 2 and 3. Is my memory just off?

just wanted to make sure everyone was aware that you can buy game-worn "normal" jerseys from the athletic department.  when i got mine it was only $100 but the prices may have gone up in the past few years?  anyway, they usually sell out really fast, but they're available at the very start of each year

i know jim loves the special edition jerseys..

I'd be much more inclined to bid on a regular style jersey than these alternates.  I've never seen an alternate that I liked.  But then I'm a traditionalist and I've never gotten around to buying a game worn one even though I've meant to.

Yes. Way off.

12 (Schafer) and 18 (Inglehart) as freshmen.

3 (Schafer) and 23 (Inglehart) after that.

I have programs to prove it. I'm too lazy to copy them.

Thanks, Arthur. No need to prove anything, of course. I believe you. Strange what we think we remember sometimes!

Proof (http://www.tbrw.info/?/players/cornell_Uniform_Numbers.html), anyway.  ::deadhorse::

I had seen that, Greg. I had actually found the information that Inglehart wore 23 confirmed first on the Cornell site here:

http://www.cornellbigred.com/sports/2009/4/10/MICE_0410093106.aspx?id=234

I then checked TBRW, and found the information you linked to. But in my warped mind that was sure everything was wrong and my memory was correct, I had decided that it was reasonable that:

a) The compilation for the Cornell page included a typo that resulted in 23 being listed instead of 2
b) You, when compiling the information for TBRW, may have just used the Cornell information, as opposed to compiling it on your own, replicating the mistake
and then finally
c) Shore, when choosing a great player that wore 23, used the Cornell list.

That's why I asked, in my first post about this, if your information had just been taken from the Cornell information.

I think the horse is now completely and totally dead!
