Title: ECAC Championship gear
Post by: FrankO on March 24, 2003, 07:23:37 PM
Does anyone out there know where any shirts/caps/etc. commemorating the ECAC Championship victory are or will be available? I've checked The Cornell Store, the store's online site, and Bear Necessites - nothing coming from any of those locations.

Does anyone know if the Boosters or Athletics will be selling anything?

Thanks!

In both '96 and '97 the campus store had t-shirts and hats available, but IIRC, it took a couple of weeks for them to get in.  In fact, I think in '96 there were originally "crossed stick" shirts that just read "Ivy League Champions" and then the design was changed after the victory in Lake Placid to add "ECAC Champions" to the shirt.  There were also different t-shirts for sale from the issue room at Teagle.

BTW, I think that 2002 was the first year they handed teams the "ECAC Champion" on-ice celebration hats (at least I don't remember SLU getting anything similar in '01).  Seeing as this is the first CU championship since they started doing that, I have no idea if they'll be for sale to the public or not, but I sure hope so.

I know for a fact that the campus store will not be carrying ECAC gear. I work for the store, and have pleaded with the clothing buyer. He has reserved shirts if Cornell makes it to the Frozen Four, and if we win the NCAA championship. Sadly, he won't order Ivy or ECAC gear.

I'll try Teagle next.

Thanks!

Can someone enlighten me on just what one can buy from Teagle?  I didn't know that they were selling anything when I was a student and only learned about the game jerseys this year.

The hell?  We won a record 10th ECAC title and they're not even going to sell T-shirts?  This calls for an annoying smiley:  ::screwy::

All I can say was in 1980, some enterprising soul set up a table outside the Straight to sell T-shirts.  They were available to wear at the NCAAs.

Don't depend on the Cornell authorities to do something that makes sense, especially if it doesn't put money into the University coffers.

They sold the 96-97 back to back hats, didn't they?  Or was that something I dreamed up?

I didn't get a hat, but I got a sweatshirt embroidered with that back-to-back logo.  I actually think that I bought it at the merchandise cart at Lynah.  I'm thinking that means that Perfect Screen Printers were responsible for those.

I'm disappointed that the Campus Store won't order ECAC championship gear.

I bought an Ivy Champs tee-shirt in '96, because I wanted to have something to wear to the Frozen Four in Cinci (what a disaster, but that's another story) and they didn't have ECAC champ shirts yet.  I figured I'd buy an ECAC shirt when they came out only to discover that they simply slapped "ECAC Champions" on the bottom of the Ivy champ shirt leaving it otherwise unchanged.  So I never did buy the second shirt.

Yes, the Ivy title means little.  But it was an appropriate thing to wear this past weekend when we won the Ivy tournament...

I have one of those '96 Ivy League champioinship shirts, too, although mine has been packed in storage for several years now.  Too lazy to retrieve it when the season came around.

Hey, I would love to have one of those ECAC caps to go with my new home-white replica jersey (No. 6 Murray) that I bought through eLynah!  B-]
