Cole Bardreau signed with the Flyers: http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/12/flyers-ink-former-world-junior-gold-medalist-bardreau/
Glad to see Bardreau signing.
But dammit. Bardreau on the Flyers and Ferlin on the Bruins. So much ugh.
Cole just needs to have an ok season, and then the Flyers will sign him long term.
Welcome to the Orange and Black, Cole. See you in Allentown, ASAP.
Let's go Red! Let's go Flyers!
In off-ice news, Ben Scrivens (http://bringchange2mind.org/) is prominently featured, along with some other celebrities, in an ad campaign to raise awareness of mental health issues. The photo you see at the website was also a full-page ad in last week's Sports Illustrated. This is the PSA (http://bringchange2mind.org/about-us/psas/) which features Scrivens.

Cole's been one of my favorites over the past decade (although I sure wish he finished a bit better!), and I'm glad he's getting his reward -- although as a Ranger fan I can't say I'm thrilled with the team that he chose ::scream::

Same here (pens fan, but same principle). If I were picking a team of favorites that I've seen from Cornell (about the last decade or so), Cole'd be on one of the top lines.

That's... a great question.
Since 2005:
My top two lines, because I'm lazy:
Moulson-Nash-Greening
Bardreau-Scott-Bitz
...? Miller? Mowrey? Gallagher? Senior-year Iggy? Abbots?
on D, so many to choose from:
Gleed, Downs, Cook, Ryan, Seminoff, D'Agostino, Kruger, B.Nash ...
next season can't come soon enough
Douglas Murray is on a tryout contract with the Calgary Flames.
Found this today. Few on here are our boys. Don't recall seeing this on ELynah. Figured this was best place to post this.

The article was really focused more on highly rated prospects that played in college. Pokulok was never all that amazing for us.
Mckee, on the other hand...

What is an ATO (not "what does it stand for" - I can read) in the context of having signed an entry-level contract with the Flyers?

I believe an ATO is a way to let him play for the Phantoms for the remainder of the year without burning the first year of his entry-level contract. So ATO+contract really means a 2.2 year contract.

Cool. So I guess I could take a 10-minute walk on Friday evening and welcome Cole to his pro career. Loudly.

Might as well, since there's some other hockey event in upstate New York on Friday that is missing a certain team ::bang::

Weekend games are usually sell-outs (officially), but they have a hard time selling tickets on weeknights.

Ryan signs with the Sharks (at least according to Ferlin's twitter feed)
David E Davis editor of Automobile magazine spoke of fanatic quote reformers and safety zealots, using the term Savonarolas in an Automotive News interview. It was taken in by the reported and then printed as "Savannah Rollers."
NY Times wrote of "Saturday Night Girls" as Boston prostitutes circa 1900.They were socialites who gathered to do good works on the eve of the Sabbath.
Blockus is usually pretty good, as small-town sports writers go. I sent him an email pointing out the mistake. We'll see if he responds.
Also, the announcers on the Phantoms TV broadcast last night had some good things to say about Cole. Too bad the game was so hard to watch (Syracuse 6 - Lehigh Valley 1).
Jake McDonald signed with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

He also said that the interview took place in a locker room "full of music" and he could barely hear what Cole was saying.

Sounds like the Phil Spector " Wall of Sound" defense.

That might have worked out better for Phil than the defense he used.

The "Nutty as a Fruitcake" defense was most applicable for Spector.

LOL. But it took me a few seconds.
With Edmonton picking up Cam Talbot today for draft picks, Ben Scrivens is facing likely diminshed playing time with the Oilers, assuming no further deals.
http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/why-cam-talbot-is-worth-the-risk-for-oilers/
Quote from: Mark Spector, sportsnet.caOilers fans will recall the gaudy numbers that Ben Scrivens posted as a backup with the Los Angeles Kings, after a similar stint as the Kings No. 1 when Jonathan Quick was injured, the same way Talbot carried the ball this season when Lundqvist went down for an extended period. Those numbers never made the flight to Edmonton with Scrivens, and that is exactly why Chiarelli found himself in the goalie market at this draft.

The Kings roster didn't make the flight with Scrivens, either.

And yet there were a few nights when Ben singlehandedly won games. See "The Game"!
Can't believe anyone believes it's a goaltending issue versus team defense. Dubnyk seems to be a good goalie once he left Edmonton? Fasth and Scrivens are both decent.
It's not just an issue with defensemen, either. They need more forwards who give a 200 foot effort every shift. Maybe Peter and Todd can show them some Youtube clips of Hossa, Toews, Bergeron, Datsyuk, etc.
