Here's an interesting quote about the MSU squad from MSU's former coach, Don Brose, which appeared in last Friday's edition of the MSU-Mankato student newspaper:
"They are real skilled and fast. The only thing that could hurt them is if they get played real physical. I think if they can keep from playing on a regulation size rink they will have an advantage."
A good omen as we try to learn about this team
:-)
MSU Mankato is good enough to beat anybody in the country. They put together a 12-1 winning streak late in the year in the WCHA and took Minnesota to O.T. in the semis, despite being outshot 49-17. They have had the look all year of a beatable team, an overlooked team, yet they always keep it close...and as any hockey fan knows if you keep it close anything can happen.
My guess is that their lack of big-game experience is their Number 1 flaw. Good luck, but don't look past them!;-)
