Schafer sent the following announcement to his mailing list:
"It is with sadness that we announce that Pete Chuchmach, Class of 1978, passed away on Thursday January 8, 2015.
Pete passed away from complications from an upper respiratory infection.
Pete was 58 and is survived by a brother and fellow Cornellian, Greg, a niece Megan and a nephew, Ryan."
