Title: Lehigh vs Cornell
Post by: Ken711 on October 18, 2014, 04:39:32 PM
17-0 Lehigh in 3rd quarter.  Cornell's "offense" is hopeless.  I will be shocked if we finish better than a 1-9.  If Archer doesn't win more than 3 games next year, it should time for another coaching change.

Final Lehigh 31 Cornell 14.  Has this football program hit rock bottom yet?

Cornell gave it a good shot, caught some lucky bounces - literally when Collin Shaw grabbed the ball that had popped out of his hands on a 58-yard TD pass that got Cornell on the scoreboard - and closed to 17-14 midway through the fourth. It was a game for a while. It was also bitterly cold and rainy the last quarter. So unlike the balmy, shirtsleeve (if you'd been drinking) weather Friday night for the fireworks / laser light show that almost filled Schoellkopf. Cornell has done a good job selling Homecoming as a sort-of reunion for recent grads.

But it does look like it's down to the Columbia game for Cornell's chance to avoid going winless, maybe at 0-2 (Ivy) Brown next Saturday. The rest of the season the opponents are 5-1 in the Ivies: Princeton, Dartmouth, Penn.

Hey, the new president understands football. And Ithaca weather. Elizabeth Garrett wore a thick wool coat and muffler to the game.

A USC halfback named Garrett? (http://www.videas.net/neil_lomax/heisman/hmt_1965.htm)

Hopefully, she also as embarrassed as some alumni staring at the condemned West stands.

Hmmm. Perhaps they're related. Is she his daughter?
