If you are interested Cornell, is up 1-0. jms
Is there a netcast for tonight's game?
There is audio from the game - ECAC site has link to the radio station
Found the site....who's doing the play by play...he's a very very, um, non action oriented announcer. On that last no-goal, it took me 45 seconds to figure out who even shot the puck...practically no description of what's going on.
Disallowed goal by Mark McRae appeared to be in the net before it was dislodged. Tough break. Fabulous move by Mark to get around the Harvard D.
1-0 CU, end of 1.
Anyone else having a problem getting into #lynah, or am I just doing something wrong?
I haven't been able to get into the chat either - getting message saying "invite only"
the irc channel is now open (it was mistakenly set to invite only)
Greetings from Honolulu, Hawaii.
I agree, this radio guy is not too "colorful." I have been listening for about ten minutes, and I have no idea what the score is. (But three waived-off goals?? ::screwy:: What is up with that, Hanson?! (Of course, it is in our favor, overall, so I cannot really complain.)
The Pep Band sounds great.
C'm on, Cornell, stop taking those penalities!
what is the irc server addy?
As best as could be seen on replays, our disallowed goal should have been good. Harvard's first was clearly after the net was dislodged. Harvard's second came after a very quick whistle by Hansen, after which Moore knocked it in out of Lenny's glove. So I guess it's been evened up.
NERVOUS...I am very nervous. Not enough margin. But the good guys are up on top, so that is OK for now...B-]
Where did they find this radio guy? He is HORRIBLE!
::smashfreak::
I feel the same way, Tom. I'm sitting in my house in Germany biting my nails and drinking beer to lessen the nerves. I'm on my 3rd half liter of "Das Schwarze" in the last 45 minutes. :) Hopefully I can celebrate in about 35 minutes or so.
Jordan
On the other hand, the Cornell crowd sounds absolutely amazing. They've got the Pepsi center rocking! I wish I could be there so badly. And to think, I'll be back in the states in only 3 days....just a bit late!
damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn damn
1-1 Moore-on
This is a bad dream all over again. Harvard takes the lead on a goal by, yup, Kolarik (sp?). Same guy that scored the GWG last year.
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES YES YES YES YES YES!!! CU Scores with less than 30 seconds left in regulation!!!!
And we go to OT......again. Let's hope for a different outcome than the last OT ECAC final.
And....the final score that Becky and Jayson predicted (3-2) will definitely come to pass...let's hope they're correct about the winner too! GO GO GO GO GO GO GO RED!

I will pay serious money to anyone who taped this game who will be willing to send me a copy of the tape.....btw, please let me know (jcs33@cornell.edu)
Thanks for that analysis, Al. I was at the game and couldn't figure out whether we got screwed or they got screwed or what.
Was it too far for you or just bad timing to make it to Albany? Will you be at the regional in Providence or Worcester?
Whew!::scared::
Whew is right, Marty.
We're in a situation where we can't be away overnight, unfortunately, so Albany was out. We will be in Worcester or Providence, and they'd damn well better send Cornell to one of 'em.
Hope to meet there, Al.
Likewise. I'll post my seats after I get them.
Harvard's second came after a very quick whistle by Hansen, after which Moore knocked it in out of Lenny's glove. So I guess it's been evened up
TV replay clearly shows puck stopped by goalie's glove. Moore hit it out of his glove. Correct call. No goal.
In all the excitement last night following Super Sammy's game winning goal, Harvard(sucks) #5 Noah Welch skated over to the empty Harvard goal, picked up the puck and tucked it into his pants. I did not see him give this puck to ANYONE from Cornell. If you wanna talk about classless, that's it! If you gave it to someone I apologize BUT if you haven't
. . .THAT PUCK DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU!!!:-( :-( :-( :-( :-(
If anyone form the Harvard(sucks) men's hockey team had any class at ALL you would send that puck to coach Schafer ASAP.
(getting off soapbox)
Hundreds of Cornell Fans and the Hockey team celebrated in Albany after the victory- with the tape delayed game being played on all TV bars.
It appeared to my wife and I that Welch did indeed hand the puck to Paolini during the handshake.
We've seen Harvard play many times over the past two years and have been really impressed by how much class they do exhibit.
If you saw them lose to Maine in the NCAAs last year, you would have seen Grumet-Morris hand his stick to a thrilled kid sitting near the Cornell section only seconds after giving up a heartbreaking goal in that loss. Pure class in our opinion.
In any case... 4 more wins.
Let's go Red!
I finally made it home to Florida after spending Sunday enjoying a 4 hour layover in Atlanta. :-P
I listened to some of the archived radio feed and liked the announcers observation that that may have been the most Cornell Hockey fans ever assembled in one place. Of the 8300 in attendence I think it was pretty obvious that at least 6000 and maybe as many as 7000 were rooting for Cornell.
Kudos to the Pep Band. You guys did a great job all weekend, particularly during the break before overtime and after the game. I thought your drummers were trying to beat their drums to pieces so they didn't have to take them back to Ithaca. Anyone know why the Harvard band pulled a complete no-show for the finals? Did you scare them off? ::screwy::
What an incredible weekend.
Judy said that she read somewhere that they didn't have the $ to stay at a hotel overnight or pay for the bus an extra day. As the Ivy school with the most $ I'd say that that is pretty darn pathetic .... if it is true!
it was from the mouth of someone in the harvard pep band in one of the threads on uscho...he's also taking suggestions on how the pep band can improve.
They could have had a car wash/bake sale/etc to raise money. Every high school band in America does that when they want to take a trip.
On improvement: Easy, start by showing up!
Can you post a link to the thread?
For a start, they could not turn their back and give the opposing fans the finger when they are playing their Alma. ::yark::
I was going to give the Harvard band the benefit of the doubt and say they went back to Boston to catch a flight to Duluth to play for the women's team in their national championship game. That is a reasonable excuse.
The Harvard women's team finished the season 30-3-1 and yet:
ECAC Championship: Lost
NCAA Championship: Lost
Memorable but you can't brag until your holding (and drinking from) the trophy.
