More on Joe (http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/32345/nieuwendyk-back-in-nhl-others-maybe-not).

Quote"I enjoyed my year with helping my son's hockey team, and now I can continue to do that," Nieuwendyk told ESPN.com this week after being named pro scout/adviser to Carolina Hurricanes GM Ron Francis.

So there's that.  I am assuming it's this little guy.

Daren Eliot is now working with Little Caesars as director of minor hockey operations. Pizza Pizza (http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/darren-eliot-named-director-of-minor-hockey-operations-for-little-caesers-a?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter)

Little Caesars has great AAA youth teams, I've run into that buzzsaw a few times at the Chicago Bauer tournament with my kids.  Sounds like a fun job.  He's keeping his night job as hockey analyst on Fox Sports Detroit for Red Wings games.  Two fun jobs.

An opportunity on the right wing-challenged Bruins for Ferlin (and some nice words for the program):

Local Newfoundland paper published a nice article on Colin Greening, discussing his expectations for the upcoming season:

It's a sad statement about the NHL that learning how to fight will help Ferlin's chances of making the team.

Did you catch the ticket prices at the end of the story? $124 is a lot for an NHL preseason game, Canadian or US dollars.

An article from the Naples Daily News (9/17/14, not available for free on-line) on the start of the Everblades training camp indicates that last season's late addition Andy Iles is not likely to stick with the team. The Everblades expect to get at least one goalie each from the Carolina Hurricanes and Tampa Bay Lightning, thus leaving Andy as the odd man out.

Jordan Staal going down with a broken leg creates a big opportunity for Riley Nash:

Gosh, do you think the SUCKS students could afford to take that much time from their studies. Wouldn't that threaten their grades?

Eh?

Wouldn't a long flight to N.Ireland followed by at least 2 days of tournament cut into their vital study time and take them away from classes? Wouldn't that possibly threaten their grades? What if some of these less than 21 year old scholars found out that the drinking age was lower? No, it is far to great a risk to their academic careers. Really, these tender souls need to be protected from this sort of threat. It is really abusive.
