Title: Women's Hockey Roster
Post by: Cop at Lynah on June 29, 2014, 02:24:52 PM
The 2014-2015 Cornell women's ice hockey roster posted on Cornellbigred.com only has 19 players listed, including 5 freshman, 2 goaltenders and no Brianne Jenner. Does anyone know if this is their final roster ?

Being that they haven't officially announced the incoming freshman class in a press release, I wouldn't read anything into that. I haven't heard anyone indicate that Jenner would not be back this year.

I am going to guess that Jenner took a leave of absence for the last academic year and that she can't be put back on the roster until she is again "activated" as a student.  It is possible this doesn't happen until sometime in August.

Someone help me with what that means. Is it like the men's job where the coach has another full time job or is this a full time job?

Either way congrats to Doug. I'm guessing it doesn't mean he has to leave CU based on the fact they used present tense when talking about Cornell in the release?

More on Derraugh (http://www.tsn.ca/canadian_hockey/story/?id=456651) and Canadian national women's team.  Doug was named interim women's hockey coach in 2005 when Melody Davidson took leave to serve as head coach of the Canadian national team for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy.

Here's more of what it means for us. (http://cornellbigred.com/news/2014/7/8/WICE_0708141548.aspx) And it's a great thing for recruiting. Nothing like having a national coach as your coach, as Harvard knows.
