So we beat RPI (a team with some quality wins) twice, shutting them out once.  Meanwhile CC plays Alaska Anc (a team without a conf win and only one overall) 5-3 and 4-1, and we still LOSE two first place votes.  Also of note, we are now closer to third than first for the first time in a month.  NCAA football polls now make more sense than these.

We lost two first place votes to CC.  Big deal.  They've been the #1 for a while now.  The only times that we've gained on them is when they have lost, which they haven't lately.  We're probably closer to third than we have been because UNH has gotten "credit" for winning the HE tournament.  No big surprises this week - pretty much in line with what I expected.

BTW - CC's wins over UAA were pretty solid.  No scares for Tiger's fans, though the Seawolves were in game 1 for a period (1-1).  OTOH, we struggled a bit against RPI on Friday night with much more tension than should have been necessary for the 11th seeded Engineers (Kepler's Laws not withstanding).  So a poll, which does take scores and how you win into account, will be a little more kind to CC than us this week.

Keep CC in first. I would rather not play with the burden that 1st place has carried this year. It seems to be a jinx to everyone from NoDak to BC. Even CC has received its share of losses while in first.

And the standard reply is, short of a national title, the only widespread exposure of college hockey is the polls. Typically no one in western Canada knows the difference between the CCHA and the CHA or a Colgate and a Cornell, but if you can show them a national poll with Cornell at #2, whether or not it's justified, it will mean something to them.

Polls don't matter! Polls don't matter! Polls don't matter! Polls don't matter!

Sure they do. The actual hockey games only last about 6 hours a week. That leaves 162 hours every week with nothing to do except argue about the polls.

Not important... bah!
