So...anyone have anything to report on lines at the ticket office?
Melissa has been tasked to buy our tickets...so she has something to do besides drive :-D
There was a moderate line this morning. The band will be in 211, and they're selling tickets for sections 208-210. No idea how many are left.
Well thats contradictory to what Ive heard in other posts. It seemed like we would get that corner which is around section 109.

So they are opening the upper bowl after all...

They had some in 109, but I think there were few left by the time I got to the window.
The upper section was never closed.
The Pepsi Arena has been selling upper level tickets for the past week or two now. I believe someone just said that in speculation from a past event there
My contact just got back from Cornell with tickets in hand -- they were selling tickets for 107 & 108....yI'm not sure about Section 109. Also, the Cornell Alum working at the Pepsi Arena has a few scattered tickets in Section 110 that the Cornell Club did not purchase ---- if you're in a pinch and want to be in the lower level of the Cornell section her number is (518) 487-2281 -- her name is Michell Lim Van Winkle and she has gone out of her way to accommodate Cornell students & alums with anything that she has available.
Anybody else think that we're gonna see REAL small crowds there this weekend, with teams like Brown, Dartmouth and Harvard...
IIRC, Harvard had a small, but relatively loud, crowd in Placid last year... I can't imagine either Dartmouth or Brown bringing many fans with them... The ECAC can't be happy that RPI, Union, Clarkson, St. Larry's, and UVM all will be sitting at home this weekend...
I'm an alum in the NYC area and I had to use ticketmaster! Plenty of good seats are available close to the ice, but those nasty ticketmaster fees!
Its hard to get seats close to the band, but tickets are available.
Since when did the ECAC feel it necessary to go with Ticketmaster?
I tried to call the Pepsi Box office and they told me to go to ticketmaster. Lake Placid never tried to pull this!
I called the CU ticket office this morning around 10am and they put our name on a list (I'm out of town). Just called again at about 220 and there seems to still be a line or that they're getting to other people with orders. Anyone else get through on the phone yet?
I started calling around 10, got through at 10:15 or 10:20 and put my name on the list. When I called back 25 min ago I was told that I had received my tix. The person couldn't tell me where the seats were located cause the envelope was already sealed and ready to be mailed, but there were tix for me all the same. Yay! Where harldy matters as long as I am in the rink. There'll be a lot of space left in the lower bowl in other schools' sections - rest assured. The only thing that concerns me now is receiving these tix in the mail in time.
Last year I received tix from Cornell for Worcester over spring break - essentially exactly what I'd be doing this year for Albany if I didn't have some friends staying up there who are getting 'em. I recall the shipping wasn't particularly cheap, but they arrived in plenty of time - something makes me think Wednesday or Thursday (though I guess Thursday would be pushing it a bit more this time).
Like I said somewhere else, my contingent will be purchasing tickets at the door. No ticketmaster fees.
The ticket office is selling the first five rows of section 107 (these are temporary seats, folding chairs, on the floor, AA to EE). The rest of 107 is player comps. Also were selling section 108. There were about 80 people on line at 9:40 (they opened early); was by there again at noon and no line at all.
I called Ticketmaster last Thursday and they only had second level seating open, so it's interesting that they now have lower level, although I doubt that it's lower level CU section. You can avoid Ticketmaster fees by ordering through Pepsi Arena. They won't sell by phone, but they will take your faxed order. There is a fax form on their website you can send in and request CU sections. The recorded announcement at Pepsi directs callers to Ticketmaster, but they will transfer you to the box office for up-to-the-minute info if you hang on to get a live person.
This weekend there was a rep from Pepsi Arena at Lynah selling tix in 109 thru 112, and some upper section tickets. By Saturday night he was taking written orders on forms printed out of the web site, presumably to return to Albany and put on will call or ship out express.
Right now just basking in the sunshine & feeling great about having tix in hand!!...getting really psyched about the trip & seeing Big Red action!

Received by email on 11/25/02
Dear Mr. Marty'74 xxx,
We received your ECAC ticket order recently. I did take note of your seating location request on the bottom of the form. Unfortunately, upper level seating is not being sold for this event. Please let us know of your second seating preference.
Thank you,
MJ Henion
Assistant Box Office Manager[/Q]
My friend had a similar tale that was delivered by phone before I received this email. Mind you this was back in the late fall. It is great that they had a change of heart. It likely means that ticket sales are good and it surely means we can all sit in the same general area.
LGR!

i was told that the upper level seating (208-210) was for students. most of the line in front of us at 9AM was constituted of alumni/townies who were sold the bottom corresponding sections, 107 etc, right under us. i think that's some real BS that students get shoved up near the rafters and adults are right by the ice. they tried to make us feel better by saying that "we would be near the band" (211). regardless, we'll be there, and be as loud as possible (sec 210, row 7)

That's too bad, especially since there are lots of us ancient types who'd prefer to sit in the upper deck.
The best seat I ever had to a sporting event was an upper deck seat at the old Boston Garden. I went there for an indoor lacross game with lots of Syracuse and Cornell alumni on the teams. When the ticket guy asked me what type of seat I wanted I asked for a single seat near the front of the upper balcony. He got a gleam in his eye and said "I've got just the seat for you".
The "seat" was in this little box hanging off the front of the upper deck (and those who remember the gold Garden know how close that was). The only downside was I was sitting next to the two television announcers and had their key lights shining in my eyes while they did their live halftime report. That was a *fun* seat.

I spent two years sitting in the front row of G, and have had my share of field box tickets. But the best seats I ever had were the front row of the upper deck at center ice for the very depressing ECAC semis game againt RPI in 1990. Close second was when I had virtually the same seats for a Copa Libertadores game in Bogota between Nacional and Millonarios.
If you think Lynah is rowdy . . . they were shooting off Roman Candles in the stands. And chants. . . the crowd kept calling the Nacional goalie, Higuita a "son of a whore." ("Higuita, Higuita, hijo de puta" (repeat until tired) And I thought "sieve" was harsh.
As for the upper deck - I think that they have reserved those seats for the school allotment, but there will probably be plenty of seats if you want to sit up top.

Freudian, eh, Peter.;-)
Those were fabulous seats. The "gold" Gahden had its share of simply awful seats, but the good ones were really good.

I think there may be some confusion about this. Cornell Hockey Association Members (and yes, students are eligible to join, at a reduced rate, if I recall correctly) were allowed to sign up to be put on a list for tickets. I expect it was these folks who you saw getting the lower level seats.
There was some confusion with respect to my being on the list or not, and until I could straighten that out, the ticket office was trying to sell me a ticket in section 208 as well, despite the fact that I am not a student. So I really don't think they were herding the students into the upper deck as standard practice.

Bizarre question here. So, a bunch of us are in section 124, a corner, that is not Cornell, actually across the arena from Cornell. Any ideas on whose section that is and if they have a ticket forum where we can try to find a trade or soemthing? Hopefully we can just sneak over into the Cornell section, but just in case....

I'm a student member of the CHA, and when someone picked up the tickets that were under my/her name, they gave us 208. Oh well, still the general Cornell area.
ok. so apparently I am anal cause the tix arrived in the mail today .... in PLENTY of time. We have tix in 210 for fri and 206 for sat.
Yup, 124 is diagonally across from the CU section....seating for the 4th seed is supposed to be sections 122, 123...so, Brown. Harvard(sucks) is supposed to be sec 102-103, same side as us but to the right, and directly across from us should be Dartmouth in 117-118.
