Title: Kentucky Derby
Post by: Jim Hyla on April 29, 2013, 08:01:55 PM
Check out Ken Schott's take on (http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs/schott/2013/apr/29/nbc-sports-group-begins-kentucky-derby-coverage-we/) NBC's coverage. He ends up with:

QuoteOverall, NBC Sports Group will have 27 1/2 hours of Triple Crown coverage.

So is Schott covering horses in the hockey off-season, or hockey in the horse racing off-season? If Schott covers Saratoga, it's a pleasant month of August he spends.

I recall announcers with too much time on their hands who wound up doing fashion coverage and people watching.

The silliness of the derby did however produce one of the great print pieces of all time, which in turn inspired this beauty (http://www.kentuckyforkentucky.com/products/the-kentucky-derby-is-decadent-and-depraved).
