Title: Cornell-Bucknell Lacrosse
Post by: TimV on March 19, 2013, 04:09:24 PM
Game interrupted after only 3 minutes due to snowstorm and field conditions.  Cornell up 3-0 on 3 shots.

Worse...they're gonna make us listen to that asshole Sean Hannity.

Redcast showing trucks plowing the field.  Audio is stadium speakers playing grunge rock.  If you're listening to WHCU feed they are sending you Sean Hannity.  Al and all you other Dem Libs can switch to Redcast video and listen to Soundgarten.::rock::

And the problem is???

Heavy wet snow covered the field and made footing very hazardous.  Play has resumed, weather has cleared, and play is more even.  AJ looking good in Goal.  Mock being held out of game for protective injury  reasons.

Score still 3-0 ion 1st q.

Score would be 8 or 9 to 0 if we could shoot straight.  D playing lights out.

We're getting there, Al.

Now 5-0.

Now 5-3, as Bucknell is dominating at the X (sound familiar?)

And now 5-4, lost 4 face-offs in a row

Make it 5-4 after Bucknell wins another face off.

If anyone's interested I'm going into chat

can't win faceoffs again.  missing the net.  not backing up.  struggling against 10-man ride.  missing mock's sharpshooting.

All true. The Bucknell goalie's made a few nice saves as well.  AJ has been doing ok -- defense hung him out to dry late in the half.

Very worried about the faceoffs.  Have opposing coaches found a flaw in Tesoriero's technique?

3 goals in two minutes in the snow; 3 goals in 30+ minutes after the plow

Now 3 goals in 43 minutes.  It's no secret Bucknell does their 10-man ride.  Why are we so unprepared for it?  Looks like Cornell hockey trying to break out against Q or Yale.

Al, I'm as perplexed as you are.  We have experienced coaches on the sideline.  Quite mystifying.

Thanks goodness AJ is having a good day.

What is it with our defensemen getting hung seemingly once a quarter.

One goal in each of periods 2, 3, and 4.  Maybe we thought the game was over when it was 5-0.

Still can't shoot straight.  Terrible loss.

Max VB really had to get that one off of Pannell's gorgeous feed.

I think shooting is the least of the problems.  Bad on Faceoffs, clears maybe even worse.  Lots of nervous play out there, fumbling passes etc.  AJ was our best guy today IMO

a very frustrating game, continued problems at faceoff and no answer for the 10man zone ride on clears
(admittedly a short turn around Tuesday game probably left them little time to prepare)

AJ played a very good game

I dont watch enough games to understand the application of the stall warning... but to have zero stalls called in this game cant be right
My guess is the coach will have a few words for the officials either on or off the record

hopefully whatever had Mock on the sidelines will be very temporary as well

Stunning loss. Bucknell had only beaten one team with a winning record, with a very ugly loss on its resume. To blow a 5-0 lead to the Bison makes me have no worries about making alternative plans for Memorial Day.

Aargghhh!!!!
I'm having hockey déjà-vu!
And, "the team that shall not be named" is on a roll!!??

If we look this bad without Mock, imagine what next year will be like.

Why are we so quick to give up on our teams' seasons this year?

Plus, I've been hearing a lot of chatter this week about a Bucknell upset, so it wasn't entirely umexpected...  Wait, never mind, wrong sport.

I think ithacat is underselling Bucknell.  "Only beaten one team with a winning record" couldn't even be used to describe Hopkins this year, and certainly does not capture the whole story with a very good Bucknell team.  I would say this loss is only stunning if you had unreal expectations for the Big Red this year.  This Cornell team (unlike some others it has been compared to in this thread) still has National Championship aspirations, and this game does not change that, but may in fact help the team focus for their next challenge, a very good Penn team on Saturday.

What put Mock on the sidelines? Did he play and then leave?

Better to lose this one than an Ivy game (or an extra Ivy game). I could see the Ivy champion having a league loss this year. The tournament belongs in Ithaca. Hopefully no snow by then.

Mock did not play at all during the game.  I read on Laxpower (though do not quite remember it myself) that he took a very large hit near the end of the Yale game.  Hopefully nothing too serious and he is back sooner than later

I can't believe I have to look somewhere else for the final score. Brutal to lose because we're getting beat at the X again. I worry less about the accuracy of our shooters than about a failure to get possession. If we have the ball, we'll get it on net enough.
