Off to PU, maybe I'll clean it up later. Or I guess someone will help me. Thanks, Age. I guess you're better at this than I am.:-D
I added the women, got to get going. Bye
Women's ECAC awards are posted.
Greg Miller gets Ken Schotts Daily Gazette's ECACH Best Defensive Forward Award. (http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs/schott/2013/mar/18/college-hockey-slap-schotts-week-22-the-daily-gaze/)
By the way, if anyone knows another writer, not CHN or USCHO, who covers all of ECAC the way Ken Schott does, let me know. I'd like to read them and acknowledge anything like post-season awards. Ken Schott, while writing for the Schenectady Daily Gazette and having a Union bias, covers the whole league like no other local writer that I've seen.

He gets paid to have a Union bias. He actually has a Flyers bias, and even more a Phillies bias. :)

If any of you live near Schenectady, have your kid dress up as Leon Stickle for Halloween and take him or her trick or treating at Ken's house. I'm confident he'd be a good sport.
Miller named ECAC Best Defensive Forward (http://cornellbigred.com/news/2013/3/13/MICE_0313133152.aspx) and Third Team.

I don't remember ever seeing a team with so little (accurate) mention of Cornell players. And yet, Cornell is still going to win most of the TBRW awards. Starting to think Trostky fixes those.

Oddly, at least to me, Cornell has not been that heavily represented in all-ECAC teams (http://www.tbrw.info/?/ecac_History/all_ECAC_Teams.htm).

Greg, the 2nd name on the '71 team should be Danby, not Darby. I'm surprised looking at the teams that Jack Danby wasn't also on the '72 team.

This season was a disaster, especially from a fan perspective. Just when they suck you back in, they suffer the most devastating loss in recent memory. I'm not proud of how anyone on the team performed except for Miller, Iles, and a few others. This was supposed to be the year...what a waste.
We've all been through this several times, but IMHO the season was not a "disaster." The team fell short of the pre-season expectations, but watching the talent of Miller, Espo, and D'Ags was always a joy, and we can still be very hopeful about the sophomore (soon to be junior) class.
We do need a very strong freshman class to get back to a bye and NCAA qualification, but Schafer and his staff have delivered them time and again.

I think we had a very strong incoming class before we lost De Jong, Hudson, and Mike McCarron. Now it looks like a strong class, but not nearly as strong as it was. :`-(

I think of those guys as "paper profits." They don't register until they enroll. Hudon still hurts, though.

Well, Heisenberg list De Jong as the #1 defenseman in the BCHL and McCarron is on the USNDPT. ::bang::

Oh, I know, but I just never "emotionally" count those chickens. McCarron seems to have just been confused. De Jong may have been using us as leverage all along, like (guy whose name I have forgotten) did a few years back.

My understanding was that both really wanted to come to Cornell. De Jong ended up with a financial aid changing out from under him. McCarron was, I understood from his twitter, a test score issue.
It sucks that both wanted Cornell and neither happened.
At banquet last night awards were announced. (http://cornellbigred.com/news/2013/4/19/MICE_0419130817.aspx)

I think they were recounting ballots all season.

Great. An endorsement of this season's mix of petulance, stupidity, occasional brilliance, and overwhelming inconsistency. None of the '14ers except Iles getting an A is telling as well.
-edit- I should clarify that I'm talking about McCarron.
I understand Cole Bardreau getting the "A" this year, but I'm baffled by John McCarron getting the "C".

Based on your wealth of knowledge from time spent in the locker room, playing, practicing, and traveling with the team? Don't forget, the players vote on captains. If you want to pass judgment on what you see on the ice, fine, but suggesting you know better than the team itself as to who might best fill a role that's largely performed behind closed doors is foolish.

Well I hope McCarron can be an effective captain from the penalty box, because he spends more time there then he does on the ice.

The fact that we are not privy to what happens in the locker room or practice doesn't prevent us from being surprised at the team's decisions in this matter. There's no guarantee that the team will make the "right" choice here even with all the information in hand (where "right" is defined as providing the best leadership for the team both on and off the ice).
That said, I am more than willing to give mcCarron the benefit of the doubt in this role.
FWIW, wouldn't it be true that the the head coach has final say on captains?
