Not much in the way of passing or getting the ball inside so far.  D looks strong.

Finally...a Pannell assist to Mock

Buczek to Mock inside...starting to look like Cornell offense

Rob Pannell passes Eamon McEneaney in scoring. Really needs to be records for 3- and 4-year players. Both amazing players. McEneaney and Mike French, now there was an attack combo that hasn't been matched. And also back to back NCAA titles.

Taking too many chances on D this half.  Letting Hobart back in the game.

Pannell has 7 points midway in the third. Cornell was up 11-4 not 11-7.

12-8 Cornell start of 4th period.

12-8 after three; Buczek looking good with 3 and 1; other middies largely invisible; Pannell taking some ill-chosen shots; too many penalties in first half; spotty performance so far

Cornell doubling Hobart 16-8 in the fourth. Always a good margin to keep the other teams nervous. Now 17-8.

Cornell announcers on freshman (Schattner?) with an ungodly ~386 points in HS though maybe not the hottest bed of HS lax. "That's a lot of points in my front yard."

39% save pct for Fiore; not gonna work against stronger opponent.

Nice show. 19-11 win. Shots tied at half 18-18, outshoot Honbart for game 47-35.

Al, I'm with you on that. He makes a few insane saves, but let's up too many seemingly stoppable shots that will hurt us against the very top teams.

For anyone who was there, what do you think: Putting up 19 on Hobart in the opener was better/worse than expected? What about giving up 11? Fans are inclined to believe Fiore is not the goalie we promised ourselves he would be. Maybe the defense is working out some kinks farther forward than the goalie circle. And sometimes the flow of the game turns both sides into a high-scoring match. Is anyone concerned that last year's Ivy rookie of the year Matt Donovan only went 2-1? (I kid.) No problem with Pannell's numbers, 4-5, although there was criticism that Pannell was taking lower-quality shots.

So this was the team picked 7th and 13th in the pre-season polls.
