the non conference schedule is even tougher than this years....
That 2/7-8 weekend is suspiciously open. Odds are that's the Colgate pair.
What is the NC schedule?
vs BU
Denver
Denver
Estero (Maine and who else?)
2 other games
Closing with Fish & Fowl is interesting.

According to the Maine game thread, the Esterothers are North Dakota and UNH.
We closed at home vs. Harvard in 2008, too. Didn't work out so well.

In Estero the other teams are North Dakota and UNH. Also our NC schedule this year hasnt turned out very difficult. If we didn't not show up for the lst 50 minutes of the final at the Florida College Classic we'd be 5-0. Instead we lost to the worst team we've played this season.
Quote from: css228Instead we lost to the worst team we've played this season.
So did Quinnipiac. (http://www.collegehockeynews.com/schedules/team.php?td=5) They've seemed to survive that.
Actually it appears NoDak has changed its plans and won't be at the FCC next year. There are a pair of NC games that have already been leaked by someone elsewhere on this forum. I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader to find.

If North Dakota is out and UNH is still in, and if in-conference matchups are avoided in the first round, Maine will have an easier first-round draw. Damn! That would have been a great tournament.

Unless the tourney picks up somebody better. (I know, unlikely.)
Is it a known fact or just a guess that Cornell's game vs. BU at MSG will be over Thanksgiving?
The reason that I am asking is that there was a rumor (a post on a BC blog) that I posted elsewhere at the time on eLynah that RPI would be playing BC as part of a double header (separate admissions?) with Cornell-BU. A tentative RPI schedule (http://www.withoutapeer.com/2013/02/tentative-2013-14-mens-hockey-schedule.html) was distributed at the BRF! game recently. It shows RPI @ BC on Sunday 10/13/13 (gametime TBD). Conceivably RPI didn't want to reveal a game at MSG without more fanfare. One thing pointing to it being in NYC is that the day before has a game in Bridgeport, CT against Sacred Heart, and Bridgeport is a lot closer to NYC than Boston. Furthermore, RPI is going to Boston to play BU five days later on Friday, 10/18. Two trips to Boston on consecutive weekends sounds weird, but it could be the best that could be arranged. It would however seem better logistically if the BC game was indeed at MSG.
Does the Ivy League allow games on 10/13?

No, the Ivy league does not allow games that early. I'm not even sure the Ivy League allows practice that early, since that sounds to be around the time Red-White usually is.

Yes.
The Estero Tournament will be Sat. and Sun., Dec. 28-29. First round match-ups are Maine-Princeton and Cornell-UNH. It departs from the last few years of being Fri.-Sat., as the teams wanted a little more time after Christmas. Unfortunately that means Sunday goes head-to-hesd with the last week of the NFL season - hopefully we'll have the late game. Originally it was to be North Dakota and not Princeton, but No. Dakota withdrew its earlier commitment.
Note: Jim - you can put this definitively in the schedule, as my source is a direct email from Craig Brush.

Yes, but it wasn't really an ideal situation. If I recall correctly, the seats where you could see both the ice and the TVs in the sports bar were all reserved.

With all the people around due to the youth tourneys being held in the adjacent rinks, it is now pretty much impossible to get seats up in the breakaway pub. Even just ordering a large pizza "to go" took 50 minutes. There is an area on the opposite end of the rink, where the Cornell Club used to have a set up, that has a couple of tvs, but in the past couple of years, that area has been vacant.

No offense, Princeton, but swapping out North Dakota for the Tigers really lessens the tournament, not that it won't be fun to be there again. This feels like 2010 when Cornell and supposedly BC were to play at the Prudential Center in Newark in one of the non-MSG years over Thanksgiving weekend and then it became Cornell-Colgate. The title game feels as if it should be Cornell-UNH this year in Estero but that will be one of the first-day games since Cornell and Maine, both hosts, don't play each other and you don't put same-league teams in the first round, either.
We probably shouldn't worry about the strength of the Estero field until we actually win (http://www.tbrw.info/?/games/cornell_Holiday_Tournaments.html) it again ;)

Doesn't seem like it should matter, from this statement (http://www.greenvilleonline.com/article/20130430/SPORTS/304300052/ECHL-s-Florida-Everblades-sale) by Brush. Particularly if he stays in charge of Ops I doubt the new owner will object to selling the venue a couple extra days a year.

Especially given how things took a turn for the worst around that point last year. Maybe a game to tune up before the January run will help work some things out.

1/4 and 1/11 are good candidates for a home game.
I find it rather odd that we are this deep in the schedule planning process and still don't have the 29th game. I suspect the result being an Atlantic Hockey League team and most likely
Niagara or a team willing to travel a shorter distance to play a single game. Frankly, I would prefer a Penn State matchup but don't see that being a reality. Any thoughts?

You may be right. But the fact that the team still hasn't released a schedule at this late date* suggests that they're having issues with the schedulg. That could be issues with finding opponent #29 or working out the details of an arrangement with said team. I suspect we'll never know, so we'll be left speculating when the actual schedule does come out.
* July feels late to release the schedule but is it? I don't know when it's been released in previous years and I'm not sure it's worth the effort to dig that up.
Edit: OK, it's not unusually late for us. Thanks David for doing the legwork last year. http://elf.elynah.com/read.php?1,174815,179736#msg-179736
If Denver really was supposed to return the visit and they pulled out, that may have left us scrambling late.

Seems pretty likely. I can't imagine Schafer agreeing to play in Denver without a return engagement in Lynah and those first two weekends in January (now listedas the exhibition game and the potential UMass game) seem likely to be when those games might have happened.

It wouldn't shock me if the new coach vacated the deal made by the old staff.

Or maybe Schafer's rant about the WCHA officials after the Denver series made Denver or Schafer himself reconsider the arrangement.
According to the ECAC website, Niagara comes to Lynah on Tuesday, Nov 26 and Colgate is at Lynah on Saturday, Dec. 7. I don't see the trip to Colgate posted on the ECAC schedule.

Also exhibition with York on 10/19, but neither 'gate nor Niagara have their schedules up on their websites. So???????? Time will tell, I guess.
What about games at Yankee Stadium? I heard a possible outdoor game proposed, could it be Colgate vs Cornell?
The Niagara game was a no brainer to expect. Now my focus is Snapper's post regarding a Colgate game at Yankee Stadium. Is there actually merit to this rumor
or just on a wish list?
now official:

Colgate is split between Dec and Feb. Home 12/7 Road 2/14.

My son's hockey coach knows a member of the coaching staff. I believe that this is still being considered. They discussed it last week at Cornell hockey camp. I don't know anything further but it would be a lot of fun if it happens.
Based on the timing of the NHL games at Yankee stadium (January 26th-29th) is there a possibility that the Cornell/Yale game on January 31st could be played at Yankee Stadium? Just speculation on my part.......I know that this was discussed and generally dismissed a while back.
