Title: RPI voodoo over Onion, sets them up for RIP at Lynah!
Post by: Chief AA Bear on March 09, 2003, 12:04:02 AM
Well,

Goalie Nathan Marsters of RPI was asked just after the game, what are you going to do now? Go to DisneyWorld? No, he was heard to say, his head bowed sullenly.......

I'm going to go on all expense paid bus trip to be DESTROYED at the "Temple of Doom"  - Lynah Rink.

And so it goes for another fleeting "happy moment" in the life and times of Dan Fridgen and his frozen Engen-eers. How can anybody be happy, over there? Here, there was the prospect of snowboarding and soon golf, and now what do they get?...... the opportunity to be totally thrashed and embarrassed in front of the Lynah Faithful, by the No. 2 (really #1) team in the USA!

Onion, played the most pathetic series that I have ever seen a 6-seed play. It was ugly tonight.........icing after icing, extra long shifts with players on both sides dying for a line change, and of, course the incredibly stupid freshman antics of one Tim Mayotte, goalie (so-called/ or benchwarmer next season) for the spirited, emotional and just plain not smart Onion College.

If you read my post from last week, I predicted this one ALLLLLLLLLLLLll the way. I know voodoo when I see it, and RPI had it on Onion this weekend. RPI played some of the lamest hockey one could ever see for an 11 seed to upset a six seed. The real joke, was how Union so totally, choked even after taking a 2-1 lead tonight, that I could only recall flashbacks of Clarkson in the Gahden and Placid in my mind. Oh, yes, I see I gave the Knights in the post-Morris age, wayyy to much credit, as the managed to taste UVM's sweat-soaked shorts for the second time in the "Cheel Arena Age". Their lock on the greatest chokers of all time, could not even be eclipsed by Mayotte, though he tried his best in spactacula fashion, committing the same bonehead error, not once........... but TWICE IN A ROW!! It was pathetic and I truly did feel sorry for my Onion alum friends who convinced me to go to this two-ringed circus. ::nut::

I will refer to mr. Mayotte as the "Roamer" for now on, as he apparently fancied himself as Superman, and thought himself fleet of skate, dexterous with stick, and a master of strategy (or is that... 'strategery') Hah!

So, in summary, RIP lucked out with the equivalent of two empty-netters, after Union took the 2-1 lead in the third, got once again horribly outshot in the stats, had to have taken at least 8 penalties (they were lucky Union was just as horrible on the power play), and almost managed to give up the tying goal right at the end. It was waived off "Colgate-style" by the ref with seconds remaining. I guess O. Murphy lost sight of it... doesn't THAT ring a bell!

Well, all the better for our beloved CORNELL BIG RED, who after a good rest and staying well-focused, thanks to the Faithful, should have little trouble disposing of this sorry RIP excuse for a Division 1 hockey team.

I will even go out on the limb, if you can call it that and predict that Cornell with throttle RIP in two straight shutouts.

To me, this series Onion-RIP series was a no-brainer upset, as i predicted. RIP had the voodoo on Onion.

Guess who's got the Voodoo on RIP?  That's easy, isn't it?

Let's GO Cornell BIG RED!!!  WASTE RIP!!!!

Now that you've called him out, he'll be here.  (Of course the loss to UVM may have him a bit despondent.  So be gentle.)

Been a tough year for Rich, but he--and Clarkson--will be back in good time.  (Clarkson's narrowed their coaching decision down to four, most of whom are former Clarkson assistants.)  That program's too strong historically to lay fallow for long.

FWIW, Rich has been a valuable contributor both here and at USCHO this season, so don't scare him away, Chief.  Had enough snow in Saratoga?

Well, it may be too late and I'm not sure if I can take Friday off, but if I could swing it, does anyone know what the RPI ticket office ph# is? I visited the RPI athletics website but the ticket office ph# appears to be a closely guarded secret.

Well, well ,,, nice to see the big bad bear has been able to figure out how to use his computer again.  It never fails to amaze me how much hockey he knows for someone who never put on skates and whom I had to teach what an icing call was all those many years  ago  ::screwy::

Welcome back my old friend see you next friday for the games at the pepsi.  tickets are on the way:-)

Ahhh, my good 'ol friend Mr. Kinght Attack... not much "attack' in those knights this year.... gone are the "golden' days probably for some time, now that 'Snidley Whiplash" with his mustacheo has been bannished fromt the North Country.  ::nut::

What Mr. Knight, doesn't know is that my sterling "frat-hockey" career netted me one goal against the famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) "Stumper" Timms from Sigma Pi.

That in itself is a good reason to hve retired out in a blaze of ice-glory! Hah! :-D

(the other, is I couldn't skate backwards to save my neck!)

                                    That WAS a Good Knight[/b]!

           LET's GO RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                On to ALLLLLL-BANY!!!!
