Title: Cornell Alumni in the Pros: July 2012
Post by: Aaron M. Griffin on July 01, 2012, 08:53:39 PM
I'm sure most on here know that Iles was invited to the Carolina Huricanes's conditioning camp at the end of June. This article (http://www.examiner.com/article/learning-to-stop-pucks-with-the-carolina-hurricanes) has some interesting quotes from Greg Stefan, the goaltending coach for the Hurricanes, and one from Iles.

Greg Miller scored the scrimmage-winning overtime goal (http://video.capitals.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=0&id=184245&cmpid=embed-share-video) at the Washington Capitals's Development Camp. The goal occurs at 32:05.

At the end of a long shift as well.

Greg also scored the first goal of the Caps' camp on a nice deflection during the Day 1 scrimmage.
And I had the pleasure of signalling the goal as the ref (while saying 'Go Big Red!' under my breath).

You have to know how to work the dirty areas if you want to score.

Uh, I think her experience with Tiger might say otherwise (of course I'm not intending to cast any aspersions on Murray in saying so)

I think this still falls under Tiger Wood's social life making the news. I bet if Murray were dating the ex-wife of some other pro golfer, it wouldn't be news.

No good reason to start a new thread for a disappearing August, but via the ECAC site, an article on Riley Nash. (http://www.gocheckers.com/news/checkers/?article_id=1044)

Starting to look like a career AHLer based on his numbers and the depth they have at center.  Probably a make or break year for him (unless that was last year).  Hope he has a great season and gets a legitimate shot.  Otherwise, please send him to the Devils, we like defensive minded forwards and I will personally pay Cam Janssen's salary to have him sit and give someone with talent (ideally someone who has taken a power skating class at some point) a shot.

I thought some ELFers might find this post (http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2012/08/23/15-years-gone-remembering-the-hartford-whalers/) about the 15th anniversary of the Whalers leaving CT interesting.

I posted it here because if you watch the video, you'll see Kent Manderville. :)

I just realized there's a difference between the headline being interpreted as "Krantz has become very successful and popular in Europe" and "Krantz has joined a team named the Stars."
