I'm Canadian, I like hockey and I think Ken Dryden should be Prime Minister. I think those are all good reasons for voting for me for the International Liaison seat.
But bothering us with your ad is a MUCH better reason for voting against you.
Oh, come on, his ad was funny, give him that much credit.
. . .or just not voting at all::rolleyes::
I'd vote for a guy who knows about the Elynah forum, and probably has season tix. :-)
Anyone who knows about this forum and Ken Dryden has my vote.
How do we know you're Canadian???;-) :-P ::screwy::
I'm looking for a ride to Pyramid Mall tomorrow. Could someone help me out? ::rolleyes::
Because I have unparalleled hockey knowledge, a love of Labatt, and a Paul Kariya-Team Canada jersey. I am also a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, whose team President happens to be a former Cornell Alum, and so is the new Chairman. I also think that Leneveu should've started ahead of Underhill in last year's playoffs. That is my complete policy platform.
A good indication is that he/she knows Canada has a prime Minister, not a President. But just to be sure ... a small quiz...
1) Canada's equivalent to Mr. Rodgers is....
2) The 1$ coin is called ...
3) The 2$ coin is called ...
4) What holidays are celebrated near the American's Memorial day and Independence day
5) The longest street in Canada is ....
6) Nunavut is .....
7) What is on the Canadain dime? the nickel? The 2$ coin?
8) Kim Campbell was ....
9) 1972 is important to Canadians because ....
10) What TV show starred Cynthia Dale as a laywer?
11) What TV show had a band called "the zits"?
12) What organization did the Laura Secord commerical, the one about how Canada got it's name, the underground railroad commercial with the phrase "We's in Canada, Paul" and the commerical about immigrants like "Molly Johnstone" with "Ma mere me ma dit juste avant de sa mort...." ?
EDIT: For #12 .. this group also did "the vote" commerical and the one with "Mr. _______ (can't remember the name), If you don't bring this classroom under control I am going to repeat every word of this DISGUSTING lecture to your charming wife"
That's a great quiz (I know 3 of them, does that make me a Mini-Canadian?), but google ruins this particular form of identification.
Only kinda. If it takes forever you know that it is unlikely - and tho #12 is OBVIOUS to all candians (or at leats it shoudl be) I don't know how easy it would be to find via the internet ... nor would the question about the "zits" ... at least I don't think so. Oh well ... we'll see.
Let's see, I know #2, #3, half of #4, #6, one-third of #7 (I think--thanks for leaving out the penny, quarter, and loonie, all of which I know :-P), and #9. Does that make me at least an enlightened/Canadophile American?
If your government doesn't get its priorities in order Sacagawea will be on the $1 coin.
(Oh, calm down. It's just a joke. Don't turn this thread into a debate on the prospect of war.)

#13) You bust out laughing when somebody shakes their hand near their head and yells "Gretzky!"
#11) Degrassi Junior High!!!
What a classic, we had to watch it in health class like 100 times in 8th and 9th grade because someone different gets pregnant in every episode. I still have the theme music somewhere in the recesses of my brain...
Growing up in Western NY, I know most of these. Heck, we get Canadian currency as change so often, we might as well be included in the Canada GNP calculations.
So Greg says "mini-Canadian," John says "enlightened/Canadophile American"...I prefer the term "CanOreo": Canadian on the inside. OK, I just made that up.
BTW, you should specify that #7 is looking for what is on the reverse of each coin. Otherwise people can say "the queen" and demand points.

Hmmmmm...that might work on the University of Maine hockey forum...
:-P
Damn! You had to get that theme song in my head and now I can't get it out!!! :-( ::nut:: ::help:: ::screwy::
I've heard some claim that #5 is the longest street in the world. Don't really know what makes a street a street vs. a highway, though. More importantly, it's the street you'd take if you were walking from Air Canada Centre to Maple Leaf Gardens or vice versa.
Well as a defence, the store wasn't selling Nieuwendyk Team Canada jerseys. Plus the way I figure it, Cornell wasn't exactly competitive with Maine when Kariya was playing anyways.
Well, that settles it for me. He spelled it "defence". :-D
I think it's cool to post elections to this forum. We need more Dryden fans in the SA. Besides, this could be reaching the swing voters.
Go Leafs!
like me. ::laugh::
Whereas I just have Skankin' Pickle's "I'm in Love with a Girl Named Spike". :-P
I was taking an enormous, stinky dump this afternoon, and I happened to think about Cornell hockey. That definitely warrants a post on this forum.
