All -
Yes, there's an Android version of the College Hockey News App.
Install from Google MarketPlace! (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.application.collegehockeynews)
************ Obsolete ********************
It's in Alpha release and not available from the MarketPlace.
Basic requirements:
1. Android 2.3.4 or greater.
2. Device with network connectivity.
3. Ability and willingness to install applications on your device from unknown sources (that's me).
4. Patience.
Instructions for install:
1. Make sure your device is configured to install applications from unknown sources. Settings->Applications->Check Unknown Sources.
2. Goto the following link (from your device): [Removed]
3. Download the file CollegeHockeyNews.apk
4. Once downloaded, click on the file in your notifications (this launches the installer).
5. Install and Open.
6. Wait, the first time data load might take a while, but subsequent ones will be much faster.
7. Have fun!
Note: When it crashes, I automatically get a crash report, so you don't have to tell me about crashes. A message will inform you that a crash report has been sent.
If you want design changes / features, let me know.
Thanks to Age for allowing the Android version to use the data on his server!
Edit: Small change updated to 0.4.1. See if you can find it! :)
Edit2: Stability and future application update improvements updated to 0.4.2 (link updated) - all changes under the hood, including LiveScores will reload as scheduled after going to a game-detail page.
Edit3: Removed direct link. Available on MarketPlace (er, Google Play) now.
Edit4: If you are the person still running 0.4.2, it keeps crashing when you load the list of teams! Sorry, you must upgrade to the marketplace version. With the addition of Penn State the app is attempting to load a graphic that is not included in that release.
I just downloaded it. Great app. Thanks.
In terms of additional features, the only suggestion I have is to include individual player statistics, but that seems like it could be difficult to do.

Great! I've made a small change, so you can re-install using the updated link in the original post.
Unfortunately, I currently do not have access to complete individual player statistics, so that feature is a long way off.
Edit: No more updates tonight!
Thank you. Thank you. I didn't know this would ever get done, given Age's strong preference for Apple products.
I know beggars shouldn't be choosers, but will future releases be compatible with older versions of Android? Or will I need to flash a CM7 ROM?
Thanks very much! The application seems to run just fine. Great job!
Thanks Jon, looks great.
Thanks from here, too.
One topic that I have never seen other Android users mention is that only two browsers have an easy time with eLynah. If it was available to use via Tapatalk, life might be easier. I don't know if this is an easy transition/porting job.
Thanks again for the CHN app.

Glad you like it. Nope, sorry. No plans to support earlier than API 10.
Thanks for tying out the app and the good feedback.
As somebody discovered, there was an exception thrown if you did some mean things with the orientation of the device, but that's fixed with 0.4.2 (link updated in original post).
CHN Go! The Android College Hockey News App is available from the Google Play.
Download here! (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.application.collegehockeynews)
Upgrades include:
- Automatically refresh game details page for live games
- Select number of days to load on live scoreboard
- PWR rankings break ties correctly
- Live scores on team details page
- New main page layout
- Stability enhancements
- Timezone corrections for game times
- Automatic updates from marketplace
Note: To anyone who installed via direct links, you may have to manually UNINSTALL the existing version before downloading, but that depends on your device.
Have fun!
How come this won't support any early versions of Android? I'm stuck with version 2.2 on my phone.

Sorry, but some good news the demands has been large enough to motivate support for earlier versions of Android!
Compatibility with earlier versions of the SDK is a work in progress. Not ready for prime time yet.
Next best thing for Android. One nice thing about this link is that you can click through to a live box score during any game in progress.

I apologize for asking for more to be done with a fine FREE app. But the ability to see the live box by clicking on the link I have posted makes me wish for the same function on the app. Thanks again.

You can expect that by next season.

Really? Making promises to help with the Android App now!?!? ::banana::

I'm making promises for the iPhone app. Whatever you glom off it is between you and your god. ;)

Please glom everything off it.

I just realized that probably sounded ungracious considering that you probably put a lot of work into making this and don't expect any compensation.

There are ads in the MarketPlace version ... ::innocent::
4.11 is now available at the online Android market, whatever it is called. The last update mentioned earlier Android versions being supported. This update is working fine for me on 4.04 OS.
My current favorite for browsing elynah forums on my Galaxy Nexus is the Ninesky browser. It allows a consistent magnification of the messages when moving from page to page within the forum. I am posting because this is not a very popular browser and this info may help others.
The only other browser that comes close for me is Dolphin Mini - Dolphin Mini though will choke on an attempt to open a second tab when used with the Jelly Bean OS.

0.4.14 is now available (has been for a couple weeks). With the addition of Penn State, all earlier versions (25% of devices are running earlier versions) will fail to run consistently.
For the curious - here's a list of % active device installs by version number:
14: 74.86 %
11: 22.73 %
10: 1.09 %
9: 0.51 %
8: 0.78 %
5: 0.03 %
Thank you to those who update or allow auto-updates! Running an earlier version? No support for you!
0.4.15 is expected in the next couple of weeks. It will add news, favorite team(s) designation, tale-of-the-tape, detailed game summaries and some other under the hood improvements.
