The game starts in 2 minutes. Why is section B half empty? Unnaceptable.

Oddly, they were the old Dartmouth, because Gaudet was coach there too.  But yeah, they seem to like to goon it up.

With the win, Cornell has at least a share of their 20th Ivy League title (http://www.tbrw.info/ivy_History/ivy_ChampsByTeam.htm).

Still 3 shy of Harvard, but the Crimson got a head start of 8.

# of Ivy titles by coach:

7 ... Schafer
5 ... Harkness
5 ... Bertrand
3 ... Reycroft

That was also Andy Iles' 20th career win, tying him with Eddy Skazyk for 18th on the all-time Cornell list.

Yeah, but Harkness only took 7 years to do it.::banana::I only wish that the Red Wings hadn't been so stupid.

Congrats on getting that monkey off your backs. My boys did so tonight as well. Watch out for Yale. Really good skating team, way better than their record. Goaltending is still light years behind the rest of their team talent-wise.

Big win tonight.. also Brown's fans demonstrated tonight why you don't chant scoreboard when you're only up by two, let alone only 4 minutes into the 2nd period. For a bad hockey team, their fans are really uppity.

I'm impressed that any of their fans made the trip. Either true fans or folks who were looking for a reason to get out of Providence.

From a Brown fan on USCHO:
Quote from: It's funny that the band will typically make it to 3-4 home games a year, but they made the trip to Ithaca for tonight's game.

Only the band was there, and they seemed more interested in taunting us than the actual game. Even when the game was over they were still chanting things at us. When play resumed after the fight, we started singing that "Na na na hey hey goodbye" song and waving (I think this a new thing this year, I don't remember doing it last year, I have mixed feelings about it). The Brown band waved back at us and were all smiling. It's like they didn't realize that they took a 2 point lead and then gave up 5 unanswered points to lose.

I was really surprised to see Brown's band there, too.  They barely post for the ECAC Tourney.

My thoughts on the game:  You never know which Cornell team is going to show up.  It could be the one that played in Colorado Springs or it could be the one that dropped two to Colgate.  Last night it was the former.

We clearly were the better team out there.  We had a few unfortunate breaks incuding that seeing-eye deflection for Brown's second goal, but we hung in there.  I was really concerned that we'd fold, and gladly we didn't.

Iles had a decent game.  I'm not sure how much I fault him on the first goal - our faceoff man should have wrapped up the Brown player - and I sure don't fault him on the second goal.  He had one play where he went for a stroll in the 3rd that got a little dicey, but the D saved him.  Other than that, when called on, he was there.

It looks like there's a new play in the offense's arsenal.  One guy skates behind the net and throws the puck out to a man in the deep slot for a one timer.  They must have tried it 10 times.  Maybe tonight it'll work.

Brown played pure defensive boring hockey (think NJ Devils).  They would sit back in a 1-3-1 and wait for us to come out of our zone.  Fortunately for us, they played it badly.  By the time we came out, they were backing up and giving up the red line.  Easy dump and chase.  Fortunately they hadn't watched some of the game films of other teams with a strong forecheck.  We don't react to that very well, but after a few attempts at that, they went back to the 1-3-1.

Nice to see Esposito back.  Now we need Birch healthy.

LGR!

Friday Schafer said that Birch would play tonight if he passed his concussion test.

Does anybody know if Axell and de Swardt could be suspended by the ECAC for the game misconducts they got with 28 seconds left in the game?

Brown needs to meet the concept of forechecking. I thought I was watching a far less talented version of Tampa Bay.

That's the first thing KA looks for in recruits. Can they skate and shoot. Everything else he feels he can teach.  If I'm remembering an article on his recruiting philosophy correctly.

I listened specifically when they announced the penalties.  No DQ's.  Only misconducts.
