cornell looked solid for 2 periods.. the third was real sketchy.. Not sure if was all the penalties they took adding up or the altitude but real luck to hang on and get the 3-1 win.. The sloppy clearing passes in the 3rd left them chasing for long stretches.. will have to play much better as CC was much the better in the 3rd..
A solid effort in the first 30 minutes; Andy Iles comes through again with another impressive performance. The guys looked tired on the larger sheet, and the altitude was definitely a factor. I'll be happy if it ends up being a split tomorrow.

Ya mean you're going to be sad if it's not a split.::screwy:::-D
Tough night for Colorado hockey. Denver lost at home to UAH (now 2-21-1).
Iles answers CC 38 times on 39 shots. Could've been a much less happy outcome if on the late Cornell PP Isles hadn't stopped the CC breakaway shot.
On the pregame chat I guessed / wondered if we won we'd need to do it with two goals. Lucky we got those two goals in the first and then just held on as we ran out of gas, CC got a goal in the third, and we held on some more until that ENG with 7 seconds left.
Gratifying win, our best of the year, against the #6 ranked team. Seems a lot more upbeat for Cornell than a year ago washing out of the first round of the Florida tournament again.
They're now tied with CC in the Pairwise at 12. We'll see what happens tomorrow night.

Good one. But a double negative is not always true.

A double negative is not not always false?

They also have the second best winning percentage vs TUC (4-2 .667) in the country.

I was just gonna post that. But how long will Dartmouth, Quinnipiac, and Harvard remain TUCs? H and D are two of the bottom three TUCs, and Q is not far ahead. Seems sketchy to me that all wins over TUCs are counted as equal.

Probably the ECAC's best win too, but at least its competition for Union over Merrimack.

Hopefully they'll remain as long as they can help us. :)
Yale should probably re-emerge as a TUC by the end of the year, too, and that's another win. One silver lining to having lost to Mercyhurst, Brown, and UMass (who has surfaced themselves, but who knows for how long)...
It's the highest ranked opponent Cornell has defeated since they beat #5 North Dakota 1-0 on 1/22/2010, and the highest ranked opponent they have defeated on the road since they won at #5 BU 4-2 on 11/25/2002.

I believe you mean 11/25/2001. (The series at Walter Brown was in the 2001-2002 season; the domination at Lynah accomplished by the 2002-2003 Frozen Four team.)
Cornell really did a good job coming up the ice for 2 periods. we cycled the puck and kept control for long stretches. CC is clearly the faster team but the change in play was so abrupt to watch. we could have given up 4 goals in that 3rd period. cornell has been ahead or tied in every 3rd period this year all the losses have been 3rd period related. that is one telling stat unusual for cornell teams.
i would expect CC to come out flying tonight, if our legs dont come back it could get ugly. but it was fun to watch the play on the big ice
Clearly this means we will now kick on and win the national championship.

Agree. Will Mike insert fresh legs into the line-up (Craig, DeSwardt, Brisson, MacDonald) or go with the combinations that won last night? Looked to me like the team actually benefitted from the additional open ice until they ran out of gas.

As long as we don't play at altitude.
Game highlights at ECAC Hockey site (http://www.ecachockey.com/men/index). Two great shots by Jillson and McCarron.

Props for using the old fight song in the video. From Jillson's interview, it sounds like the team has its eye on sweep.

Didn't show the incredible right post to left post save by Iles in the second period.:-(
Forgive me if this has already been addressed, but damn if that announcer in the video highlights didn't sound just like Grady. It wasn't he, was it?
