Title: MNF
Post by: billhoward on December 13, 2011, 10:05:21 PM
Monday Night Football needs two, maybe three games a week to choose from. The last two weeks' lone games stunk. Even the announcers at the end of Seattle-St. Louis said (did I hear this right?) that "fans deserve good [Monday night] football." I liked the quip in the waning minutes, "ESPN News now projects a Seattle victory."

The NFL requires that every team get on prime time at least once a year. Sunday Night Football is now the place the good games go. MNF is where they dump Jacksonville and the NFC West.

I don't think it's true that every team needs to be on primetime at least once. Check out the Bills schedule: http://www.buffalobills.com/schedules/game-schedule.html

And to be fair, more than a few people would have thought last nights game would be meaningful in that division back in August. Though, Ugarte is right, SNF is where to find the good games, especially with the flex rules in play.

Huh. I recently read that was a rule. Either Deadspin or Peter King. Hmphf.

That's correct, there's definitely no requirement.   From a quick check, it looks like no Arizona or Tennessee this year either.

Considering MNF is on ESPN and I don't have cable, I'm happy for it to be crap games I have no interest in.

ESPN isn't paying for the good games.

You'd probably be equally glad to miss the NFL Network's Thursday Night Football game this Saturday with Dallas beating up on Tampa Bay 28-0 at halftime.

I have never seen a ThNF game because I don't want to encourage the bastards. NFL belongs on Sundays: period. Everything else is just a PITA.
