Just to start and remind those that want to record it, replay on CBS College Sports at 1 AM.
Overcoming a pretty slow start CU really played well on the road after the debacle of Mercyhurst last weekend. The freshmen looked great. Iles was solid. the only part that was discouraging were the giveaways in the defensive end that really were sloppy.
I dont think we will hold many teams to 2 goals this year with the way the D plays, but if we can generate any play on the offensive end we will score goals..
two games in and already multiple goal games by the freshmen.
Listened to the game on internet radio.
I think I was spoiled by Cornell goalies McKee through Scrivens. Every time we let in more than 1 goal, I instinctively fear for the outcome. Couldn't really tell how the defense looked, but it sounded like we dominated the entire game.
I've only been watching Cornell hockey for a little bit over 3 years now, but if I have learned one thing about Schafer it's that he will get the defense together. Between the returning veterans and talented freshmen (Joakim Ryan I'm looking at you) I have no doubt this team will stop giving up those terrible turnovers in our end. This team is exciting, and I'm one who has never complained about an offensively slow, defense first team.
Pretty solid performance. We could skate with Yale and for the most part CU's effort was far superior. The freshman were everywhere and figured into 5 of the 6 goals totalling 7 points on the nights scoring. It was nice to see Cornell survivie the first 10 minutes when they were all over us. The key to the game was the quick left pad save ILes made about 5 minutes in. The final 50 minutes we looked pretty solid.
Now on to Brown and see if the team can have back to back solid efforts
If tonight's game doesn't dispel the notion that Cornell is slow, nothing will. Last year we sometimes skated with Yale. Tonight we did for most of the game.
In the first two games of the season, Cornell's puck possession in the offensive zone has been outstanding. I can't think of a more effective defensive strategy than keeping the puck 190 feet from your goal.
The pair of Ryan and D'ags on the blue line insanely good. Here's to hoping we get to watch it for more than this year.
That was fun.

This team is not as quick as Yale, but I wouldn't call them slow, offensively or defensively. It's not last year's team, that's for sure.

Couldn't say it better myself.
I fully agree. I just was saying that I am excited by this team, even though I actually enjoyed our old style. Some get bored, but I always thought it was thrilling to be in close low scoring games. The offense this year does look like it will supply those thrills.
