Title: dog names
Post by: Jackal307 on October 16, 2011, 03:39:18 PM
Hey guys, I was debating where to post this, but I figure its hockey related enough! My husband and I just bought a puppy (a cardigan corgi) and named him Topher, after #26, hes short and stocky, but thinks hes a big dog. Now we have to come up with a name for his akc registration, which is a longer name like the ones you see on westminster. We need some ideas... Anybody have anything hockey related?

How about Kennel's "Top Shelf with the Peanut Butter"  It works with the Topher nickname, too.

Though I do like Jackal307's suggestion, too.

A player would be honored. Just so long as you haven't had him [the dog] fixed.

Maybe something along the lines of:

Debonaire's Dream Crushing Soul Devouring Juggernaut?

I like that :). I was trying to think of something along the lines of "fiesty, grinder, role player" and hadn't quite gotten a Westminster-esque name yet.

My dogs have been pre-named dogs from the local animal shelter, and I happened to like the names they had. Thus, I'm not very good at this naming game.

Jackal's husband here (dog's other owner).  He's going to be a show dog.  Nuts will stay firmly attached.

lol, we're gonna keep the cajones on him, hes gonna need them for little topher jrs in the future. I like Cornell95's, unfortunately its too long (no more than 35 char. with spaces including Debonaires), we could do initials though :)

Got some ideas to toss around for the dog name:

"Screw BU, Your Dog Too"
"Scott, Second Period!"
"Walk, Turn, Bend Over"

I named my female black lab Messier.  Sort of a feminine hockey name.  :-)

She's tough and she's a good dog.  15 years old, hips giving out, but happy to be alive every day.

Best wishes with Topher!  The human Topher was super nice to my boys when we met him, I like the name.

Consider it pre-season training among the Faithful. I think this crew was ready, or beyond ready, last week with the shirts-and-skins posting in relation both men's and women's teams playing in the Red-White game.

I think we're currently leaning toward debonaires tee fee crane

On an off note, I got rejected from bu's residency program, so seriously SCREW BU!!

Given that BU rejected you and that you are keeping Topher intact, maybe ajc69  has the winning name ;-) (and I think it fits the character requirements).  If your pup makes it to a fancy dog show, it might be a bit awkward, but hey, no one would forget him.

My Abby (also known as "Abby-Baby" and "Crooked Sit Abby", re-acquired another name, "APITA", for her inability to deal with going outside in the rain that we have had for the past three days.

Debonaire's Christopher S.

I am ashamed to admit that I don't know if Topher is Christopher.

I'm Debonaire's Tee Fee Crane
Tell all the bitches on the hill
That I'll be back next year
Tell the Vets how I busted
Lapping up the old Alpo
We'll all have drinks at the porcelain sink
When I get back next year

So much for doggerel. Clearly it is time to drop the puck!

I'm waiting for a Vimeo link to the video. Oh, wait - it's being streamed and uploaded by Athletics. I bet when someone from Athletics opens a fortune cookie, it says their lucky number is 404.
