Title: End of Pledging?
Post by: Robb on August 31, 2011, 03:01:17 PM
Let's see if this (http://www.news.cornell.edu/stories/Aug11/SkortonPledging.html) can stir up a little internet hate between the GDIs and the fratboys... ;)

As well-intentioned as I think this idea is, he's just trying to rename a rose.  Greek houses have to take in new members each year, and all the old members know who the new members are.  Call it "kumquating" if you want - there will still be the same potential for abuse (this is not a criticism of the Greek system).

Allow pledging as a not intrinsically abusive activity.  Punish actual cases of abuse.

Isn't this kinda... obvious?

You mean "No harm, no foul"? I thought the precautionary principle, the very opposite of this philosophy, was in ascendance.
