Title: March 18 weekend - men's ECACs vs. women's NCAA finals
Post by: billhoward on January 31, 2011, 08:48:59 PM
'Atlantic City is only two hours from home but I'm wondering which would be more satisfying: Seeing the women's NCAA hockey finals in Erie, PA Friday and Sunday, or the men's ECAC finals in Atlantic City Friday and Saturday. It's been a while since any Cornell fan has seen a team take a victory lap around the field or rink in the NCAA championships. I'm also doing a quiet mental calculation as to who has the better chance: men making the ECAC final four or women making the NCAA final four. I think if the voices stay inside my head, it's not woofing.

The women's games are at (I had to look through a lot of broken links) 5 and 8 pm Friday 3/18, with the title game at noon on Sunday, which a) gives fans a chance to get home that same day (235 miles back to Ithaca) and b) allows for the Jimmey Dorsey Orchestra to perform there at 3 pm. Jimmey Dorsey Orchestra? At least I think I clicked on the 2011 calendar. http://www.erieevents.com/calendar/#3-2011

I also see the Atlantic City facility is offering an ECAC first-two-rows, "behind the glass" package at $85 for both days. Limited time offer, they say. 300 miles from Ithaca.

You misled us by not including the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra in the subject line.  That changes the whole decision.  And are they playing on the ice?

There's a Cornellian in the Dorsey orchestra. Loves hockey. Has a T-shirt that reads Beebe Faithful.

More importantly, do they have tubas?
