Who's attending the Florida Hockey Classic this year?
Bill Howard + 3 (maybe +5 since it's the early game and the in-laws might be enticed)
Me and +2 this year; my niece in addition to my steady date for the Estero games (aka my nephew :-P).
Won't be there for the first time in around 8 years, unfortunately.
Count me in (+ father '70, sister '06 and sister's boyfriend '06).
Never been and not this year, either. Someday, I hope.
Is this event on Redcast in years before? Is it going to be this year?
Not this year. I'll be in Florida in December, but flying back to the west coast on the 29th. D'oh.
I'll be there + 1.5. We're bringing our 11 month old. Can I get him a game worn in size 1 year? Maybe Topher Scott's? :)
Someday...someday...
I'm there + 1 as usual.
Grandparents sold their house on Marco Island and moved back to Ohio, so I'm afraid not.
Just saw this article and had to share it... just terrible.

Cornell Alum Michael Kennedy plays on that team.

And probably misses the simplicity of our Red and White jerseys, even if the striping is incorrect.

"Pass or Fail: Are Florida Everblades' holiday jerseys worst of
2010?"
I think they go right to the "Of All Time" category.

Besides Kennedy, the Everblades also have Jared Staal (younger brother of Jordan, Marc, and Eric) and Mike McKenzie (SLU(t) graduate and son of TSN broadcaster Bob McKenzie).

Oh my lord, that is awful. I must buy one.
I think it comes with a free Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville Blender

I was thinking Jimmy Buffet on a bad acid trip.

Getting more OT, but hey, we are on break now:
While we are critiquing uniforms, here is the combination of helmet, shirts, pants and socks (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/Oregon-s-BCS-uniforms-are-here-and-they-are-rel?urn=ncaaf-295895) (::yark::, for the socks) the the University of Oregon has decided to wear in National Championship Bowl Game (see here (http://elf.elynah.com/read.php?7,163884) for the mathematically correct way for the computers to pick teams to play in this game).
I'm surprised that the University of Oregon was able to decide on a uniform combo so quickly.
Hey, give them credit for resisting the temptation to match the helmet, jersey, and pants to the sock color! It probably could have gone either way, being Oregon (http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTUtPaWCzf9ZOj64cUL9oxGEGrixS4b2OT95wL6bxnsP5u2QGT2) and all.

I'm not enamored with the feathers on the shoulders (hey, when I hear "ducks" I think ducks swimming on the pond, not ducks flying over the pond), but at least no polka dot-like thingys. (http://www.goducks.com/PhotoAlbum.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=500&PALBID=4213)

For UO those are actually tasteful. The feathers are still stupid, but the rest could be a Rollerball kit
Also, to be fair to the Ducks, when you are actually watching a game from the back row at Autzen through rain and fog, which happens about 70% of the time, the neon colors look GREAT. They just look utterly horrible on TV. And of course those trash bag unis of a couple years ago were pathetic on every level.
I'm coming down for the tourney for the first time since 2002, and very much looking forward to it. I am also helping to organize a small Cornell Class of 2004 Happy Hour after the games both nights at Olympia Grille and Sports Lounge (21253 Stoneybrook Golf Blvd. Estero, FL 33928), right across Corkscrew Road from Germain Arena. It is open to everyone, alums, friends and family. Come on over after the games if you can make it!

Those of us lucky to depart the Northeast Saturday, before the snows, arrived to record low highs of around 55 and record low lows of around 35 Sunday through Tuesday. Gusty winds, too. Today it's back to normal with a high of 70, then 75 Thursday. Without beach weather, the Miromar outlet mall that adjoins the rink was packed Monday.
Let's hope Cornell has used the last 3 weeks to regroup and get healthy, as the Journal story says.
QuoteOne change for the Big Red is that the team is healthy. Junior defenseman Braden Birch and freshman winger Rodger Craig are expected to return to the lineup after missing time with lower-leg injuries.
Good to hear. :-)
