And so it begins.
Hopefully better than it ended.
UNH sold out their allotment of tickets pretty quickly (not sure how many they were given), was a bit surprised given the lone Friday night game and 7 hour drive. Think it may be our first game at Lynah since we left the ECAC (?). UNH likely has a little bit of an edge having already played a number of regular season games (split at Miami, tie against Michigan at home, tie at Northeastern) while Cornell has only had two exhibition games. Bit of an odd history here, if I am not mistaken Cornell has won the two regular season meetings (Estero, Fl. and Durham, NH) while UNH has won the three post-season meetings (Worcester, Buffalo, Albany).
Off to Lynah, good luck!
Who will be the starting goalie? (For us, that is.)

Correct (http://www.tbrw.info/seasons/1984/box19831130.html).

According to LiveStats, Garman.
Down 1-0. Free audio here: http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/unh.portal#
Redcast video a good 30 seconds or so behind the video.
did the redcast audio just drop out for anyone else?
Yes, just before the goal.
well on the bright side, when i got the darn thing up and running again, my video was far enough behind that I at least got to see the goal. haha.
And cuts out again just before the 2nd UHN goal. Stellar product, as always.
Espo - shorthanded! 2-2 4 mins into 2nd. pp coming up
UNH on a breakaway -- 3-2 them
Thinking Andy Isles (and as an Ithaca High School and Cornell grad - hoping for Andy Isles).
Hoping that Cornell gets the kinks out and both goalies battle for the top spot by playing well.
Audio's been dead for me since the start of the third.
And so it begins...
I have a sudden feeling of deja vu.
Me thinks Iles will be getting the next start, and maybe the one after that...
Mowrey PPG...6-3 now.
The women won
Schafer said during the radio pre game show that Isles would get the start tomorrow
Looks like it is time for a new addition to the spelling guide.

Isle agree with that.
Isle!
Who are you and what have you done with Mike Schafer? Actually I like what I saw, a faster more aggressive team. The UNH goals were scored mostly on defensive breakdowns. Let's hope we can get the kinks worked out of this system.
There was an interesting comment from Section O. "ooks like they stole BU's jersey"

I didn't like what I saw. Yes, the offense was fast and got a lot of shots, but the defense was not just breakdowns, but was terrible. It reminded me of the UND game from two years ago. Don't get me wrong, I want to see us be able to skate fast and shoot more often. But it has to start with defense first, and then if the chance is there, go on offense.
Last week we broke out of our zone by skating as soon as we got the puck, yesterday we fell back on our age old take it behind the net and try and set it up with a break out pass. The difference between the weeks was that last week our defense could get control early in the shift and start skating out, last night we'd play a whole shift on defense and had to retreat to change lines. Then too often their forecheck got to us and we were on defense again. The difference was obviously the quality of the opponent's offense.
Hopefully, like against UND, we can bounce back and play good defense, then and only then can we win some games. We're never going to be able to purely skate with the big boys, especially in a rebuilding year. If we can add this offense to our good D, then go for it.
On the good side, we seem to have some shooters, who are trying to pick heir spots, last night going high. The freshmen are fitting in well, good offense and good defensive possibilities. Although Garman didn't have his best night, I can't blame him for it all. Too often the D left him wide open, good teams will take advantage, and UNH has a very good first line and team.
It's too bad this game came first, later in the year the outcome might be a lot different, for I suspect Schafer will get the D back together. Tonight's game should help.
