Title: False Advertising?
Post by: scoop85 on October 25, 2010, 04:04:04 PM
I know that the sports information office is supposed to make even a bad team look its best, but are they serious with this headline (http://cornellbigred.com/news/2010/10/25/FB_1025101738.aspx) about this weekend's football game with Princeton?

>>> Another Classic Cornell, Princeton Football Game On Tap

Maybe just a tad misleading. The story notes the last 6, 9 of 10, and 16 of 20 previous games were decided by one TD or less. Given that we lost 44-3 to Colgate and Princeton lost 44-10, this one has the makings of a game between two closely matched teams. Plus one of the two teams will finally have a W next to its name Saturday afternoon. I'm surprised there isn't regional TV coverage given all the possibilities. I guess most of all I feel sorry for the players suffering through the season and hope they can start an upward slope soon.

Do note the graphic for this home contest shows "Game 7: [Cornell logo of sorts] at [Princeton logo]" at least as of this writing:

In short:  games between two crappy teams can be entertaining too.

FYP. Garbage football isn't entertaining, even when two teams are playing it.

Unless it's being played by six year olds.

Correct.  Nothing is as interesting as your child.  But nothing is as uninteresting as someone else's child. :-}

No smiley needed. That is an eternal truth.
