It was doing that for me as well but has stabilized.  They had the TW feed on the video, but it was all distorted.  The heads of the announcers were stretched to the top of the screen.  Let's hope this bizarro world continues and we pull out an improbable W tonight.

Its working fine for me, they are picking up the time warner sports feed. I decided to see if I could get it on my TV and it is on 198 on time warner in NYC.

I wrote to tech support and received a response to not use a wireless connection but to connect with a cable.  I suppose that's better than telling me to run MS-DOS.::rolleyes::

Quote from: Al DeFlorioCornell looks panicked on clears.

One of my biggest beefs with Cornell this year has been the pace on clears.  It seems they'll get into clearing formation, Fiore/Martinez + 2 poles, and they're content to pass amongst one another for the first 10-15 seconds without making any real progress towards midfield.  Frustrating pace that causes careless passes as they try to beat the clock

Agree.  Other than that a good first period.

Is it just me, or does Pannell score at least half of his goals on that same play. Half-hearted pick behind the cage, Pannell works out front, backs into defender, turns and shoots from about 5 feet in front of the goal line.
Title: Re: Cornell vs. Syracuse Lax
Post by: Scersk '97 on April 13, 2010, 07:35:32 PM
It's almost as if his teammates all start moving slower in order to lull the defense into not moving their feet so that he can make that move.  "Oh, Cornell is backing off a bit... shit Pannell just scored."

The championship game was much worse. We had no business being tied with Syracuse with 2 minutes left this year, Fiore stood on his head and then some. Its pretty respectable for this team that it took until the last second for Syracuse to win.

I don't know how an official has the gall to let that goal stand with zeros on the clock like that.  The championship game was worse, but this sucks because it was taken from us.  For the best game I've watched all year, at least let the fucking players decide it.

I thought time had expired, but it was close.

A few quick thoughts:

1.  Best Cornell goaltending since McMonagle at his best.
2.  Syracuse has freakish stick skills -- it's like they had glue in those things
3.  In the final minute when we had offensive possession I was concerned when Pannell did not have the ball, and my fears were realized.
4.  Syracuse's ride is amazing, and we were rather tentative on the clear as a result.
5.  Tough loss, but nowhere as painful as the NC game.

Part of the problem with the time is that IIRC, the scoreboard at the crescent doesn't have a buzzer hooked to it, and they use someone blowing an airhorn to signal the end. So there is another little delay there and the ref can't just use the sound to decide the end. Its pretty much impossible for a ref to watch the clock and the ball going over the goal line, so I don't really blame them for the call. It would be nice to have a replay for end of the period goals if the game is on TV. Certainly should be done in a playoff game.

I watched this game on TV and as biased as I am in favor of Cornell and against Syracuse, that goal should have been waived off and the game sent to OT if the Time Warner "game clock" was at all accurate.

Is the Time Warner "game clock" a transparent box showing the Schoellkopf clock?

NO; I have no idea where their "clock" came from but it wasn't obviously the scoreboard on the field

As far as I'm concerned there is no bigger enemy on my list now that Syracuse. After these lacrosse games and 50+ years straight of losing to them in basketball it's starting to get old. I'm not sure what we need to do, but wow do I hate them. I hate Harvard and Princeton and the rest of the Ivy League, but I REALLY hate Syracuse. After having lived in Ithaca for 7 years, perhaps it's how obnoxious and annoying their fans are, or how many there are even in Ithaca, or that they're such a religion in upstate NY, but there is no team I hate in the country more than Syracuse. Anyone else feel similarly?

They can't lose enough for me....but we all know how/why they win.  That's NCAA college athletics and we just have to accept it.  But the Butler did it.  One of my happier days.

Yes SU is definitely up on the hate list, eventually the lacrosse/basketball have to turn in our favor for one game. Although this year we did go as far in the basketball tournament as them

Maybe when it is on ESPN top 10 plays, they can point out how it was not in time

Wow, blew another lead to Cuse late in the game?  What is it with these players?  Do they just choke when they realize they're beating a team that they shouldn't be?  The late game meltdowns are clearly psychological.  I mean, they couldn't even clear the ball late in the NC game last year, all they had to do was clear the freaking ball and the game was OVER.  I know the answer -- too many late party nights at ATO frat house makes the mind and body weak late in games.  Yes, the same ATO frat house where I witnessed George Boiardi piss on a wall in the basement, literally urinate in public on a wall.

Well, we had the ball in the box in the final minute during a tie game.  The ball was stripped (for some reason someone other than Pannell had the ball) and SU moved down quickly, took a good shot with about :02 to go that was stopped by Fiore (who was amazing all game).  Fiore and a couple of our defenders had the best chances to secure the ball, but somehow it squirted to the right of the cage and an SU guy picked it up and took a shot as the clock (which was superimposed on the screen) when from :01 to :00.  The ball went in, but it appeared to do so after time expired.  The refs immediately ruled it a goal to put SU up 8-7 -- game over.
