Title: Football "Red-White" Spring Game?
Post by: CornellChris on March 30, 2010, 05:40:16 PM
Has anyone heard anything about the spring game yet? I'm assuming Coach Austin intends to continue the tradition of the Red-White game, but I feel like we should have heard something about it by now. The game, if it's going to be played, should be played in the next 2-4 weeks, correct? In past years they even had a draft in which the players picked the teams. A fun way to (unofficially) kick off the football season! Tailgating preparations need to be made if the game is happening... Come to think of it, I really haven't heard anything about the program since the big announcement and subsequent press conference touting Coach Austin's hiring. No recruiting news, practice reports, etc. The official site is noticeably update free. You would think they would want to capitalize on the initial buzz about the coaching change, as I'm sure I'm not the only one that was excited about a new start for the program. I'm assuming we still intend to field a team this season?

They have to keep the red-white game. It gives half the team the feeling of winning at least once.

And they could clang the victory bell while singing the "new" victory song.::wtf::

There was a long interview with Kent Austin in Friday's Cornell Sun (http://cornellsun.com/section/sports/content/2010/04/30/kent-austin-discusses-future-plans-cu-football) in anticipation of the Red-White game.  Lots of coach-speak.  A big emphasis on establishing a "different philosophy."  Some discussion of keeping recruits for the fall and getting a few late-signers.  Toward the end he talks about building on the strengths of the players, not wasting time trying to teach them a style they are not comfortable with.
