I think it is called taking a "mental health day". **]

Anything in New York City?  It's hard to excuse not going to Albany from NYC but I just can't make it.  Any thoughts on watching in the city?

As does anyone on the East Coast wishing to go to hockey and see the basketball.  Ruined my grand plan of working a near full day and heading off around 3:00.

Just received this email from Marty Thomas at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern in DC.

I can get one tv for you.  Normally it's not a problem except the NCAA Basketball tourney is going on.  I also can't reserve tables for those first few days.

Thank You,

Marty Thomas

Does anyone in the DC area have a better idea?

NEW YORK CITY GATHERING, 3/19 FOR HOOPS AND HOCKEY

Ship of Fools (82nd St. & 2nd Ave.) will reserve tables and TVs if they get a reliable head count. There shouldn't be a minimum charge per person.

If you are planning to be at Ship of Fools for hoops (12:30-3) and/or the ECAC hockey semi (4-6:30), please post here asap. Indicate when you expect to arrive and when you expect to leave. Thanks!

I will text the bar manager, Richie, tomorrow night with the head count.

North Jersey -
My wife and I will be heading to Miami Mike's Sports Zone at the East Hanover Ramada Inn to watch.  No official alumni gathering has been arranged, but we'll be there watching (certain we won't have sound, but they're always willing to spare a screen) so join us if you want.

Boston is at the Sports Depot in Allston at the corner of Harvard Ave and Cambridge St.  We'll be watching bouncy ball starting at 12:30 then switching to Hockey at 4.  The is the official CCoB event.

Yeah, DC at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern.  We'll be there for BBall and sticking around for hockey.  They're always accomodating, but the GM is different from last year, so a new person to have to convince that groups really will come out to watch college hockey, even during college basketball season.

There will be 2 NCAA BBall games going on at the same time, but there not huge draws.  Anyway, the official Cornell Club of Washington watches this weekend are at Penn Quarter.

Hey Rita,

I was wondering the same thing.  I am in North Bay Village.  If not for the semis, then for the final?

For bball I just went in late.

So does the Ice Oasis get the hockey games for the weekend?

The games are on Fox Sports Pacific, which I think that the Ice Oasis does get.

I checked with the guy who runs the restaurant and he is eager to show it for a viewing party. I will confirm early tomorrow and ask Rana to send out a NorCal message. At the very least, you can watch it at my house.

Cornell U has done a good job organizing viewings for basketball.

Cornell College, however, has really dropped the ball on that.

Sorry for the shorthand. I mean the official Cornell University as opposed to people like us who do a recent job of organizing hockey viewings on our own.

It's kind of one and the same. Staff in Ithaca works with alumni volunteers throughout the regions. They have been encouraging us to advertise the hockey events as well.

has anyone been able to confirm if Penn Tavern (DC) is going to be showing the women's game today?  They sounded iffy in the email sent out yesterday from the CCW.
