Title: Did Harvard always play "Hey Baby"?
Post by: Greg Berge on February 10, 2003, 06:22:09 PM
I just heard the Harvard pep band playing "Hey Baby" in the background of the 'Pot SF, presumably using the old words.  Did we steal this from them, or did they adopt it from us?

It's a fairly common song for pep bands.  Cornell's band had the song in the folders a few years before Stephen Baby set foot in Lynah.  The complete song was played during pre-game and intermission, but not very often.

In fact, it was on the University of Utah Marching Band playlist, since I remember playing it off the CD at Skating Utes games.

It's a pretty famous song, even in Europe.  They ("They" not being Harvard fans) sing the song very frequently in the beer tents of Hamburg...  :-)
