On account of the first-ever Ivy League lacrosse tournament this year, the Hobart game is the first not last game - this Saurday, Feb. 27. The http://cornellbigred.com/schedule.aspx?path=mlax& schedule says it will be sunny, which I'm not sure I believe. So I googled "geneva weather" and got 47 degrees and rainy. Turns out it helps to google "geneva ny weather" so you don't get the Swiss forecast. In the lake trout capital of the world, it's supposed to be 32 degrees and snowing. Lousy way to start the season and bad weather tends to compress the differences between good and average teams. Regardless, LGR.
Edit add: Cornell builds up a 3-0 lead, then 9-4, wins 10-7. Freshman AJ Fiore looks good in goal, announcers say. Cornell's winning streak now at 1.

Game's been moved to Sunday at the Carrier Dome. Part of a doubleheader with SU-Army.

Thanks. I'll have to do that tonight when I get home. I can't stand those blaster ads.

Looks like a significant injuries problem on top of the graduation losses.

The "Live Video" link brings you to Hobart's All-Access. I tried my Redcast log-in, but it didn't work. I then started to register, and found it's $5.95 for a 24-hour pass.

Right. "Available"...for $5.95.;-)
There is no sports pass reciprocity for road games. Be interesting if Cornell could negotiate one. Difficult but not impossible.
more interesting because the game is at SU..
Quote from: upperdeckmore interesting because the game is at SU..
But it was a Hobart home game. So I expect that's why.
IHS's A.J. Fiore to start in goal tonight.

Picture quality looks great. Must be using Time Warner's cameras. Replays, too.
On the board for 2010. Who's the munchkin doing color on Hobart broadcast?

Dunno. I'm listening to Barry Leonard. 3-0 CU after 5 min.
It's a riot. Can't tell if it's a female or a very young child. Going with female based on sentence structure.

I've had to switch to the Hobart audio. Leonard was about 6-7 seconds ahead of the video.
I think it's a woman.
We're clearly missing the scoring threat from midfield.
Quote from: TimVWe're clearly missing the scoring threat from midfield.
Not seeing much cutting, either. Hurley's invisible so far.
He just missed an open cage...
Lot of shots off-target.
Cornell hasn't scored in 17 minutes. Feels like second half of last year's game.
Pannell to Hurley. 'Bout time.
Hurley
Pannell 4:25 left in half.
Someone woke Hurley up.
Lang drops the ball a lot.
Hurley 3:11 left
Crummy midfield defense on that play
Pannell's shot selection hasn't been great.
Gotta stop shooting at Silberlicht's chest.
Nice layout at the end of the half. Hobart munchkin opines tha the hit was unnecessary. Hey, Munchkin- HE WAS ON THE CREASE!!!WITH THE BALL!! HE's A CANDIDATE TO BE LIT UP!!!

You mean...like Nims on Memorial Day?
::smashfreak::
Can we send the Munchkin down to the sideline or something? I'm dyin' here.
Can't blame wind for these terrible throwaways.
Long crank from midfield for H
Lang must have gone to Bill Buckner school.
Defense collapsed 3 guys on pannell and left a middie wide open on the doorstep.
Munchkin just refereed to the goaltender's stick as his "net". Jeez.::rolleyes::
Pannell working harder to find the open guy.
Austin scores. Defense still focusing on Pannell
Gorgeous move by Pannell.
Great multiple dodge 1 on 1 effort by Pannell
I'm liking Fiore a lot.
Yassuh. The rest of the team needs a lot of work, though.
Quote from: TimVYassuh. The rest of the team needs a lot of work, though.
This looked like a trap opener to me. Playing at the Dome helped.
This is nice to be building up the score. How do you know if the score should be 4-4, 6-4, 12-4?
Don't understand the question, Bill.
Great play by Hobart A Scheiber.
Jeez. Not an injury to Pannell now.
Pannell is down, Hamstring?? Refs are calling neither Cross checks or Slashes up to now.
I just tuned back in to the radio; losing Pannell for any length of time would be crushing.
sounds like Boykin doing a pretty decent job on FO's
Goal by Ritchie on EMO. I thought Pannell hurt his ankle an a couple plays earlier
Good call giving it to Cornell
I think H is bitching because they were confused by the football sideline which is inbounds.
Quote from: TimVI think H is bitching because they were confused by the football sideline which is inbounds.
Or he was watching who was closest to the sideline, not the ball.
Pannell back on the field -- Whew!
Scheiber for Hobart again. That kid's good.
Can't let Hobart get close if we're playing without Pannell. Need to take time off the clock and get another goal.
Quote from: scoop85Pannell back on the field -- Whew!
Have to see how he's moving.
Too many TO's
We've gotta hang onto the ball.
need to get possession and kill a couple of minutes.
Long midfield goal after ref fails to call warding off on the feeder.::flipa::
Not much rest time before Tuesday afternoon's game at Canisius.
Probably didn't want Levine to take that shot
Gotta hold onto ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quote from: Al DeFlorioGotta hold onto ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess they're not listening.
How was there no call when Pannell was hit from behind????
Pannell's limping again.:`-(
How much time left?
Sounds like Pannell did ok running around at the end.
36 seconds
10-7 final
Quote from: scoop85Sounds like Pannell did ok running around at the end.
Yep. He looked OK there.
Whew
The Munchkin on WEOS wasn't impressed by us. Wonder how she felt about her team.
S'OK Jeff - we were really pretty much in control the whole game.
Quote from: TimVS'OK Jeff - we were really pretty much in control the whole game.
That's good. The posts seemed like we were letting Hobart back in the game in the 4th.
Fiore looked good, especially early. Faceoffs were better than feared. Defense solid until late. Offense needs work but that was expected.

Great to have about 50% success on FO's. I don't know if the Hobart guys are especially good at the X, but we'll take it as a good sign.
"Ketch" on Laxpower is bemoaning Hobart's loss to a "completely ho-hum" Cornell team.

I admittedly haven't been following lacrosse during the offseason (the NC loss still haunts me and I find that I'm just easing myself back into lax now that Cornell has gotten underway), but unless Hobart's outlook has materially improved over its last few seasons, it dreams of reaching "ho-hum".
