Quote from: From CornellBigRed.com- Cornell senior Colin Greening (St. John's, Newfoundland) has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes the top senior scholar-athlete in college hockey. Fans can now vote for Greening at www.seniorCLASSaward.com now through March 16.
Here are the 10 Finalists. (http://www.seniorclassaward.com/news/view/lowes_senior_class_award_announces_finalists_for_ncaa174_division_i_mens_ic/)
Here's the voting page. (http://www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/hockey_2009_10/)
Colin's out of the gate quickly with ~42% of the votes right now. And this is actually an instance where the fan votes seems to matter, as it counts for 1/3 of the total vote for the finalists (coaches and media make up the other 2/3).
After reading Colin's bio I can't help but think back on my time at Cornell and feel a little embarrassed by how little I accomplished with my extracurricular time. ::blush::
Still at 42.2%. Nice, clean site. The pic of Colin (http://www.seniorclassaward.com/athletes/colin_greening/) makes him look about 45.

The website has a very nice, downloadable sign for Colin imploring any and all who read it to text their vote for him. Seems like an enterprising individual (before you ask, I'm not enterprising) who will be at this weekend's games could print out a few, tape them up in a few strategic places in Lynah and inspire some of the fans with unlimited texting plans to use their free time during an intermission to vote.

If I count virtrual machines I could vote 7 or 8 times (I lose count) on one RoadRunner account? I would be afraid of a major and a DQ.

It is interesting that the Times Union article is a "Special to the Times Union" by Dan Sweeney. It says that "Dan Sweeney is a freelance writer." There is some overlap with Dan's article in the Ithaca Journal (http://www.theithacajournal.com/article/20100227/SPORTS03/2270389/Cornell+settles+for+1-1+hockey+tie+with+RPI).

Some people on our end thought they saw blood on his pants when he got back in, and maybe he was sent off to let it dry. I like this better. It was also interesting watching him yelling to his teammate, I think Devin, to come to the bench so he could get back on. I assume since they stopped because of his pants problem, I started to say his equipment problem :-O, he had to go off the ice?
Pulling the goalie in a tie game reminded me of that 0-0 tie with Clarkson in game 2 of a best 2 of 3 playoff. They also did it, since we won the first game.

Today is the last day of voting (http://www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/hockey_2009_10/). I think Greening leads by a fairly health margin.
Also, here's an article (http://www.seniorclassaward.com/columns/view/fatherhood_doesnt_deter_hockey_star_from_his_duties_on_ice_and_in_classroom/) about Quinnipiac's captain (and finalist) Jean-Marc Beaudoin becoming a father at the beginning of the season.

Wonderful honor for a guy who represents the best in Cornell hockey.
For those of us who couldn't manage either a 3.95 GPA or play hockey (pick just one): Colin, we're jealous. I hope pro hockey is just one part of his career that brings credit to Cornell.

Our small group of course went crazy when they announced it. They presented him the award on the ice during a commercial break, and pretty much just read off his bio and list of achievements. Right at the end, we broke out a "Let's Go Red" and he acknowledged us by a quick wave before walking off the ice. A little while later, the "host on the field" lady had him on the jumbotron for some questions, and he gave a very impressive interview, talking about how he felt the award was more a reflection of the quality of Cornell as a whole, as well as his teammates. He specifically mentioned Ben Scrivens, who was also in town (for the skills competition), with whom he organized the teddy bear toss this season.
Wonderfully proud moment for us, and a terrific honor for the captain. Well done. I hope to see him in the pros soon.
