OK, that's what I'm talkin' about... :-)
They played very well tonight, I thought. Hopefully they carry it over to tomorrow against a struggling Clarkson.
How was R. Nash injured? Any chance of playing against Clarkson?
IMO--Tonight was total domination. The score did not reflect how in charge of the entire game Cornell was (on both ends of the ice)
i was told out for both games.. some kind of head issue? dinged up during ND games..
According to Riley (third person): Deep contusion to the thigh.
So, tied for first place and a game in hand.
Loved the Moulson-Nicholls-Ross line.
Scrivens continues his solid play. Let's get our second four point ECAC weekend of the season.
I'm curious as to people's thoughts on Chris Moulson. This was my first time seeing him play, as I was too cheap to pay for the St. Lawrence video and listened to Jason's radio feed the first time he played. And we all know you can't really tell what's going on too well from listening to Jason.
From watching him last evening, it seemed to me that he fit in very well. He's only listed as 5'11", but it seemed to me he played bigger than that. He also wasn't afraid to put the puck on net or get his hands dirty in the corners and in front of the net. It looked to me like he was doing all the right things and that the goals will come given the opportunity.
So this to me begs the question, why isn't he in the lineup more? Is it a matter of notbeing able to crack the top six and Schafer thinking he's not that suited as a third or fourth line player? The fact that he was playing later in the game with Nicholls and Ross seems to refute this point. I think the physical game he played could be useful on the fourth line, and I think he could certainly benefit from more playing time.
Curious what everyone thinks about this. Great win last night, but shouldn't have been that close - too many posts and pipes.
Uh...Chris can't skate very well. He does have good hands, positions himself well in the offensive zone, and appears to see the ice pretty well. I'm certainly not an expert, but he is more than a couple of steps slow and doesn't accelerate quickly at all. That's his weakness and it showed up last night more than once. In the first period, he was covering the left defense spot when our D-Man pinched in. SLU flipped the puck out of the zone and he got blown by even having a couple of steps on the SLU player. Had to take a penalty to keep SLU from going in alone. At this level and beyond, skating ability can't be overlooked. Chris needs to work on that part of his game or he will never see a whole lot of icetime.
Larry said it perfectly. He just seemed awfully slow, and particularly slow to get up to speed. I just wonder if that kind of speed is really something that he can work on or not.

Like his brother, Chris has a good nose for where to position himself. It just takes awhile for him to get there.;-)

This is a job for the hockey treadmill!

That will help with strength and endurance, but I'm not sure it an make him any faster. If the problem was just skating technique some coach sometime would have broken down his stride and rebuilt it. He might just be slow, the way some guys are just fast.

Well, back in the day, training and good coaching helped me pick up at least two steps in lacrosse. ::bolt::
Cornell jumps to 10th (http://www.uscho.com/rankings/pwr.php) in PWR.
(Down to 11 after late games)
(Up to a tie for 10th after the late, late games)

That really is incredible. We don't deserve it, but I'll take it.
Taking a look at the individual PWR comparisons, our ceiling (if we win out) is pretty much a #2 seed, unless there's a whole lot of uncharacteristic choking by teams above us. The ECAC was just that bad OOC this year.
Looking at KRACH, I think it shows that we're (considering a reasonable wiggle) realistically a top-15 team and possibly a top-10 team. It's pretty much Miami and Denver, St. Cloud and Wisconsin, and then everyone down to us. We're certainly capable of making the NCAA quarterfinals, but it's going to take quite a few bounces for us (or anyone else outside the top 4, for that matter) to win a national championship.
Having recently and finally returned from Midwestern exile, I'm just crossing my fingers to be able to watch the team in Albany (once, perhaps twice) this year. I suppose Worcester would be OK too...

I'm OK with that FF. If we crash the party, even better.

What was your exile again? 9? 10 years? Welcome back. You even missed that Alumni Band year. And we may be needed again...

Dunno. UNH has one non-conference win--over Dartmouth--and we crushed them at their place. If we don't deserve 10, they sure don't deserve 9.
Possibly the worst "highlights" I've ever seen, but here you go.

Camera guy must have had to be someplace else so he shot 40 seconds of footage edited it down to 34 seconds and called it a day.
