Title: Ivy League national TV football deal
Post by: billhoward on January 25, 2010, 10:11:12 PM
The Ivy League is working on a national TV football deal, according to the http://news.bostonherald.com/business/general/view/20100123ivy_league_eyes_tv_deal_national_pact_would_showcase_best_sports_teams/srvc=home&position=also. One game a week. Nothing concrete yet. The kicker: The Ivies might have to pay rather than get paid for this deal.

>>> But [Sucks coach Tim] Murphy is not convinced a deal can be struck anytime soon. "Being able to get a national contract is easier said than done," he said.

One coach, who declined to be identified, said he understands that the networks are seeking payment from the schools in exchange for the televised games.

"For lots of these contracts, they want the school to pay," said the coach of an Ivy League school. "That's not going to happen given the economic constraints of schools these days."
