RPI helping us, ahead of Quinnipiac 3-1 in the third.
Princeton not helping, down 4-2 Union in the third.
Harvard losing to Minny (of course), 1-0 early.
Dartmouth all over Brown 5-2 in the third.
::help:: Moderator, please report to ELF for a thread merge and consolidation. (http://elf.elynah.com/read.php?1,152749) . Thank you. :-)
Dartmouth now up 7-2.
According to the RPI announcers, the Engineers scored 3 goals on 5 shots in the second period.
QU's safety sieve Cadeiux is pronounced "CODZ-ear."
RPI 4 Quinnipiac 1 with 1 min to go. Having started 7-0-0 in conference, the Bobcats are about to lose their 5th straight.
RPI 4 QU 1 final
SLU up 7-2 on Niagara, Clarkson 3-1 on UAH late.
Good NC night for the conference so far. Harvard trails 1-0 at Minny halfway through the 2nd; Richter keeping them in it.
Brown's Prague Spring is over, losing 8-3 to Dartmouth.
Union about to go 5-0-3 in conference, up 6-3 on soon to be 3-7-1 Princeton.

Well, at least all the CT papers got their "hey! look at this!" stories in.

at least their last 12 NC games.
RIT 2, Holy Cross 0 in the 3rd period. The game's on TW and someone in a red Cornell sweatshirt is sitting behind the RIT bench. ::rock::

Judy took the picture, but she was wearing her Sawada jersey under her coat for the first two periods and over it for the third. There was also an old guy at the end of our row wearing a Cornell sweatshirt. (We were behind the scorer's table both nights.)
Minnesota won the second game of the series against Sucks, 3-1. The Cantabs scored first, then let in three unanswered goals, one in each period.

IINM, Harvard has lost at least their last 12 NC games.
Perusing on USCHO, Saturday's loss was indeed their 13th NC loss in a row (including a NC loss to Dartmouth, but not including ECAC playoff games). Their last NC win was 2/4/08 over Northeastern - shockingly, a Beanpot win! Their only two NC remaining this year are the Beanpot games, and their first round opponent this year is BC, easily the strongest team in the 'pot this year - no way they should win that game. They'll at least have a shot in the consolation.
Clarkson beat and tied Huntsville this weekend.
Robert Morris, which earned a split with Q back when Q was good, beat #1 Miami on Friday.
SLU(t) lost to Niagara last night.
For purposes of comparison, Wisconsin beat the U-18 team 7-1. Iles didn't play.
Q finished their zero point weekend by losing 2-1 in OT to Union.

And Union becomes first in the ECAC. Has this happened before?

Only in my nightmares.
BTW, RPI's game at Princeton is on ESPNU at 3 PM EST today.

Quinnipiac dropped out of the Top 25 in RPI (to 27) and is not currently a TUC for Pairwise. They have the same winning percentage as Cornell but a lower strength of schedule. RPI is at no.
30 28 in RPI. For those scoring at home, Harvard is 56 (out of 58).
final
RPI 4 PU 1
all four RPI goals on the power play
RPI wins 4-1 at Hobey Baker rink.
It's stunning how the wheels have fallen off Kalemba, who was player of the year and goalie of the year in the ECAC last year.
Miami lost again to Robert Morris yesterday. Records before this weekend: Miami 13-2-5, RMU 3-12-3.

I watched some of the game on TV and was wondering why the announcer kept referring to the "great rivalry between these two schools." Does he know something we don't know about the storied rivalry between Princeton and RPI?

I made a similar comment on the game thread on USCHO. There is no particular rivalry between RPI and Princeton. The announcers weren't particularly bad, but tended to exaggerate about many things. It was nice to see RPI win a nationally televised game for a change, and also to see RPI's power play much improved over its 8.7% last year and 7.1% two years ago.

The only game of note that comes to mind is the 1995 ECAC Championship. (Both teams had to pull off upsets to get there.)

That alone doesn't make a rivalry, RPI also destroyed Princeton in the two-game first-round series of the 1985 ECAC playoffs, enroute to the NCAA championship.
Not worth a new topic: Harvard hosts Yale tonight (1/12) at 7 PM
One poster on USCHO says "THIS IS HARVARD's SUPER BOWL" and this person is "confident that BOTH teams will bring their A-games, and that Yale's A-game beats Harvard's."
Harvard being less useless than usual tonight, leading Yale 3-1 in the third. The WHRB announcers are more mouth-breathier than usual -- one of them sounds like Peter Lorre as a teenager.

It'll likely be in the ECAC untill the NCAA tournament. Unless Sucks manages to beat Dartmouth, Union, RPI, and Princeton. If they can pull that off, it'll probably end up in Hockey East (via their loss to BC in the Beanpot).
Edit: OK there are a couple ways that it can still go to HE, but they require almost as many Harvard wins as they currently have.
And Harvard Sucks!!!

It's really a shame that the ECAc lets everyone into the tournament because if they didn't we could hope for one of the bottom feeders to pull off a final game win and end up with the belt all the way though the playoffs.

That can currently only happen if one of the HEA teams that doesn't make the playoffs has The Belt at the end of the season. I add that there currently is an Alternate Belt that Wisconsin received when they defeated Yale in a shootout recently. The Belt, itself, doesn't transfer via shootouts.
I love how all the scenarios on how the belt exits the league are by way of Harvard losing the belt to BC in the Beanpot. mwahahahahahaha
