During NHL network's coverage of US vs. Finland, broadcasters just discussed how USA talent is spreading out. Minnesota is still dominant, but talent is found in other regions. Broadcaster just shared a story of the time he spoke to Cornell coach Mike Schafer a couple of years ago and Schafer shared that people would have probably thought him crazy if he would have predicted having a captain from Long Island and a goalie from Texas. Referred to Vesce and McKee. Also mentioned that this was a Cornell team that went deep in the tourney.
Since I'm on a world hockey theme, thought I should include a note that Doug(las) Murray landed a spot on the Swedish Olympic team. Probably already posted.

Missed that -- thanks.
In addition to Murray, Johnston made Canada's women's team and Ithaca native Dustin Brown made the US team -- all of which is probably known by readers of the board, but exciting nonetheless.
The U.S.'s 6-5 OT win over Canada will be replayed on NHL Network at 6:00 p.m. ET this evening.
It was a terrific game. I thought the U.S. outplayed Canada and deserved the win. Jack Campbell took over in net in relief and was terrific, notwithstanding Canada's two late goals to tie it up. He's only 17, and plays with Andy Iles on the US under-18 team.
RPI's Jerry D'Amico was, IMHO, the best U.S. player in the tournament. The kid's from Binghamton -- how did he slip out of our grasp :`-(

Not to pick nits, but the only team with both Vesce and McKee was 2004, which sadly did not go deep anywhere...

By my definition of "deep," the only Schafer team that qualifies is 2003.
