64-49 Red 7 to go in the game. Nice crowd.
ETA: Didn't know the Hawk traveled to all road games too. Wow. They really make him/her work for that scholarship.
78-66 final.
Great job beating an A-10 opponent.
7-2 record over the first 9 games, all played in just 22 days with only two at home. Now a two week break before MSG. Can't ask for a whole lot more.
Either 81-63 or 78-66 final, depending on whether you believe livestats or RedCast.::doh::

Must be driving the Vegas guys crazy.
That hawk has to be the dumbest mascot I have ever seen. It looks like a kindergarten art project gone wrong and it just waves its arms the whole game...super annoying and very mockable. Best cheer of the day: "You can't fly. You can't fly."

The hawk is probably one of the better mascots in all of college sports, much better than our dumb bear. At least the Hawk does something instead of just wondering around and maybe trying to get the crowd going once in awhile. The Hawk will never die.
UConn 79, Harvard 73; men, that is.
Yeah Harvard is going to be dangerous this year. Hopefully they have their typical year where they start off with a good out of conference record, a upset or 2, and then fall apart in Ivy league play.

Agreed. I have a lot of respect for the hawk, both the student who plays it and the tradition. It's one of those traditions that sets college sports apart. Though I could see how someone not familiar with it could find it incredibly lame at first glance.
Apparently this year the Hawk is a woman for only the second time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hawk_%28Saint_Joseph%27s_University_mascot%29
Unfortunately, the actual Hawk mascot looked pretty lame. The wing movement activity was equivalent to the wimpy wave of a political candidate's wife during a campaign appearance. The tradition, however, is pretty amazing. Cornell fans should not make fun given that our mascot wasn't even present. What's up with that? Plenty of cheerleaders but no Bear????

While I love the "You can't fly" cheer, as Phillysportsfan said, you do not diss the tradition around the hawk.
And St. Joe's is one of the classiest programs in the country and Martelli one of the classiest coaches.
Yeah St Joes has got the Holy War with Villanova on Wed night on ESPN2 9pm. Villanova will kill them but the Holy War always has the potential of being a throw the stats out type of game because of the intense rivalry between the two schools. St Joes only lost to them last year 59-56 and probably should have won as they missed some free throws.

Back when RPI tried to replace Puckman with that Red Hawk thing, I believe it was the Clarkson fans who came up with the chant: "K-F-C!" And the RPI fans joined them. Wikipedia says (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rensselaer_Polytechnic_Institute): "The Red Hawks name was, at the time, very unpopular among the student body; a Red Hawk mascot was frequently taunted with thrown concessions and chants of "kill the chicken!"

Similar to when they changed to "Mountain Hawks" at lehigh. The alumni hated it. The students disliked it. But after 10 years, none of the students remembers the "Engineers", so there's no issue with them.
The alumni still hate it, tho.

Changing all those mascots to "_________ Hawks" has to be one of the dumbest college sports trends of the last 20 years.
The absence of a Native American Hawk anti-defamation league makes it a safe bet for a mascot.

Ugh
Didn't want to start a new thread with this.
sucks BB beat BC last night to make it two years in a row. It can only be good for us as long as CU wins the IVY schedule. Still, it's slightly unnerving to see sucks succeed like that.

Almost as unnerving as seeing Amaker succeed.

Agreed, we can only hope he self-destructs.
