Title: How the Top 15 Fared
Post by: JDeafv on February 06, 2003, 11:23:34 PM
Wouldn't it be nice if somebody (uscho or age) could post a consolidated list of how the top 15 teams fared each night and weekend.

I've seen it for most other sports, but none for college hockey.

Each weekend night, I usually find myself clicking back and forth between the "Polls" link and the "Results" link trying to match up the teams with their performances.  However, it never seems to work.

Just a suggestion for the suggestion box.

I have been doing it in specific threads each weekend night, but if John or Age could automate it that'd be peachy.

Unrelated, but not important enough to start a new thread:

The ECAC men's hockey weekly preview link on USCHO actually sends you to the women's ECAC weekly preview.   I've seen this get messed up once before and it was fixed before the morning.

Weird, when I went to the ECAC men's page (on USCHO) before and went to the story from there, it worked fine. They screwed something up when they posted to the main page. Wasn't too much of a column this week - just talking about various random things (lay off Joe Millionaire! no one cares in a hockey column!). They predicted us in both games, 4-2, 5-1 I think - in that order. And they predicted Hahvahd in the Beanpot consy.

They've yet to pick us to lose a conference game

Sure the link worked for me this morning, but the article was so horrible I wish it was still broken.

The quality has been really poor recently, and generally lower all year.  What's up with them?  Too busy?  Fine, I'm sure someone would love to write the article in their place  :)

To give the standard response: it's free, don't complain.

To give the standard response response: you get what you pay for (says a guy who hosts his own free site, knowingly.  ::laugh:: )

We've gotten much more in the past. And while we may not pay for it, they still *get* paid for it, and could do a better job acting like they care about it. There wasn't one original quote from a player, coach, nothing, everything in that article could be pulled from a website, USCHO boards, or recaps. Refuting the idea that Cornell should be #1?! Who the h-e-double-hockey-stick is saying that?? We just lost to Colgate, no one's saying that, what world are they living in?

Besides, why'd they drop the whole "iron columnist" competition - too lazy to take email submissions and copy and paste??

Anyways, I say let 'em know - http://uscho.com/contactus.php?uschoemail=ecacwriter

Wow.  I mean, I hate to complain when it's free, but this column IS bad.  WTF is with all the crap about Angel and Joe Maleprostitute and The Bachelorette?  And nary a worthwhile mention of Clarkson, St. Lawrence, or Princeton (OK, so that last one is probably deserved) other than in the predictions.

If Jayson and Becky decide they're tired of it, I nominate Adam to write the column.  :-)

Hell, get Volovinno back (I probably butchered his name but don't care :-) ) - with a Cornell editor to round out the Hahvahd slant - and we'd be better off with that.

While this certainly isn't why the USCHO column doesn't include them, quotes from coaches, players, etc. are 99.99% worthless.  "We just have to play them one game at a time and the good Lord willing things will work out."  Yeech, what a waste of everyone's time.

I'm just glad to be here, hope I can help the team.

But Schafer's quote about the Colgate game was priceless.

You think they get paid for it?

Here's the quote:

[Q]Said Cornell head coach Mike Schafer regarding Colgate's defensive conduct during that same loss, "I told the refs that I'm sorry we didn't bring our saddles from Cornell because there was a lot of riding time out there tonight." [/Q]

Wait a minute.  You mean when you go to a place expecting to read about college hockey, and they mention something completely off topic, you get annoyed??  Interesting notion.

Touche, "A **hockey** fan".

(Edit:  Doesn't change the fact that they failed to give meaningful mention to 3 of the 12 teams.)
