Title: Polls: 11/30
Post by: Trotsky on November 30, 2009, 04:10:32 PM
7th in USCHO (http://www.uscho.com/rankings/), 8th in McPaper (http://www.uscho.com/rankings/?data=usatoday&week=poll).  (Women are now ahead, 6th in USCHO (http://www.uscho.com/rankings/?data=uscho1w&week=poll) ::burnout::)

Edit: sorry, the McPaper rank is still the 11/23 poll.

4   Quinnipiac   ( 7)   12-1-0   799   9
5   Bemidji State   ( 2)   11-2-1   784   6

I think these polls are accurate. Quinnipiac is on a roll and I wouldn't put our team in the top 5 right now.

When was last time that both men's and women's hockey were ranked in the Top 10?
And the last time that women's team outranked men's?

Go Big Red!

Apparently "When's the last time" is this season's catch phrase.

Someone should just write a bot that constantly monitors these forums, and anytime someone post a message with only a quote followed by "Jerk. ::rolleyes::" would instantly reply with "Typical."

That sounds closer to me... They haven't done anything to warrant a top-10 ranking.

Well let's test it.

Edit: Oh I see it already did it earlier.  I thought it would generate the auto response.

Actually we were down to 18 or 19 before we'd played Q and Colgate.  Right now the PWR is essentially equal to RPI, and everyone we'd played was sub-500 (some didn't even have a win).

Doesn't need it's own thread, but nice article about Gallagher at USCHO. (http://www.uscho.com/blogs/hobey-watch/elliot/20091202/seeing-red.html)Go down about half way.

Quote from: OlshanskyI asked Mike Schafer about the last time one of his forwards had this kind of a hot hand.

"When was the last time..." is definitely the phrase that pays this season.

Since the USCHO article mentioned Gallagher's chances at Hobey consideration, it might be relevant to point out that one of the delusional Oilers prospect blogs continues to believe that Riley Nash is a legitimate candidate for the Hobey Baker:

http://lowetide.blogspot.com/search/label/nash

QuoteRecently, and for the first time I can recall since Shawn Horcoff starred in the NCAA, there have been whispers about Nash as a possible nominee for the Hobey Baker award. Quoting Guy Flaming from Coming Down the Pipe: I was speaking with a contact in the WCHA and asked him for his thoughts on Hobey Baker candidates and he not only said Nash might be 'in the mix' but that he was his choice to actually win the award.

I hope so, if he does, it means he'll be producing a lot more as the season goes on.:-D

It indicates how much hockey has changed that, with our appreciation of how strong the 2Gs have been this year at 1.5 points per game, the top 25 Cornell seasons for PPG are all over 2.0 (http://www.tbrw.info/reports/rpt25/rpt25_player_season_ppg.html)
