The way ESPN describes it (http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=293320172), this sounds like a lucky win. Those Vermont players must be pretty good. At least we had Morris Blakely, and we could have used Justin Milo at MSG tonight too. ::screwy::
It was not really a lucky win, Vermont got off to a strong start and Donahue made the necessary defensive adjustments to shut them down. We finally stopped missing lay ups and Wire played a huge part with 13 rebounds since Coury got in foul trouble and Peck fouled somebody every time they put him in. Peck looks like he has a lot of potential, probably one of the more athletic guys on the team and he is not afraid to drive into the lane but he has to learn to be more disciplined.
I hope your being sarcastic about Blakely being on Cornell, because that AP story was probably one of the worst every done, look at all the mistakes.
PHILADELPHIA -- Marqus Blakely (not on Cornell) scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help Cornell defeat Vermont 67-59 on Saturday.
Trailing 32-30 at halftime, Cornell (4-2) pulled ahead 36-34 on Ryan Wittman's jump shot with 17:32 to play in the Legends Classic.
Maurice Joseph made two free throws to tie the game on the Catamounts' next possession with 16:57 left.
But the Big Red (2-4) went on a 15-6 run to take a 51-42 lead on a tip-in by Mark Coury with 11:27 to play. Cornell increased their lead to as many as 15 points, 59-45 on a free throw by Jeff Foote with 8:36 remaining.
Cornell shot 44.4 percent from the field (20 of 45), while Vermont was 29.4 percent from 3-point range (5 of 17).
Foote, Louis Dale and Wittman (on Cornell not Vermont) scored 12 points apiece for the Catamounts. Chris Wroblewski and Geoff Reeves (on Cornell not Vermont) added 11 points each and Adam Wire had 13 rebounds for Vermont.
Big Red ekes outs a 61-54 victory over Drexel. We were down 54-52 with less than two minutes to play.
Alabama upsets #15 Michigan. Helps our RPI...

So if we won all three games, does that mean we won the tournament?
I guess you could say we won the subregional tournament but the whole tournament was a joke, we should have been playing in Atlantic City.

You can't think of it that way. I don't know this for sure, but I think the tournament was designed to get every team 4 exempt out-of-conference games, not to get a "winner" in a traditional sense. Four high(ish) profile teams were preselected to host an opening round game and draw fans to AC. The rest of the teams were in it for something other than "winning a tournament."
We beat teams from the A10, MAC, America East and CAA to go with an earlier win against the SEC. That's not bad, even if the team doesn't get a banner of dubious value to go with the 4-0 record. Also, Michigan State, Florida, maybe both and possibly Rutgers would have beaten us if we did go to AC, so I have no regrets.
Yeah you are right it was a chance to get 4 exempt out of conference games but the whole idea of auto advancing teams regardless of whether they win is a joke. The funny part about it was that if the hockey game at MSG was not going on that weekend probably could have gotten more Cornell fans to go to AC than UMass since I would bet there are many more Cornell alumni around Philly than UMass alumni.
